Today is the last day for July.As usual I've been busy with my life that I always forget to blog or blog a little bit and then put it in draft mode.Believe it or not I pushed myself to complete this entry today.I did a bit while I was free at work and then continued after I finish breaking my fast.So here it goes,July in a huge nutshell!:P

Iftar/berbuka puasa/breaking my fast

How has your puasa been so far?For someone like me who has gastric,I've been dealing with bad digestion + diarrhea which equals to nasty pimples popping on my chin..:( Hopefully it'll go away soon.

Below are pictures from my various iftar/berbuka with awesome people in my life :)

Sushi time!
Had Sushi King with the boyfriend and his siblings after we watched Pacific Rim.Initially we were supposed to break our fast at Manhattan Fish Market but somehow the reservation made by Razin's lil sis Qeema was mixed up and we couldn't dine there.Thankfully there were a few empty seats at Sushi King.
Mama's homecooked dishes and some bought from the bazaar
My mum loves prawns as much as I do.Though I'm actually allergic to it(it makes my skin itches and leaves horrible scars which is why I carry my allergy medicine all the time),I love eating seafood!For one of our iftar at home she stir fried huge prawns with vegetables and also made sambal tumis udang petai.
Nasi kerabu
I love nasi kerabu but it's hard to come by and I haven't eaten it in quite awhile.Bought this at section 7 night market with the boyfriend's eldest sister.It was goooood!
Not so good sandwich at O'Briens
 Went to O'Briens with Razin at Empire and we didn't particularly like the food.The sandwiches wasn't good.I've to say that our own Wondermilk is way better.
Delicious desserts at Tong Pak Fu
 Because of our disappointment with O'Briens,we had dessert at Tong Pak Fu to make up for it.I order the durian tracka and Razin had the creme brulee.We shared the flower tea.It was so pretty!
Homemade nasi ayam & salmon tom yam by the boyfriend's mum & sister
The day before this picture was taken,I was breaking my fast at home with my family and the boyfriend send me a pretty picture of the nasi ayam/chicken rice that his mum made for their iftar.I love a good chicken rice.So his mum was sweet enough to keep some of the chicken for me and I had it the next day for iftar with his family.
Takeaway Homst's food
I love Homst food..been eating their food for almost 3 years now?My fave is their butter prawns!It's the best and that's saying something because I've had a lot of different versions of butter prawns from various eateries/seafood places.Takeaway their salted egg yolk soft shell crab,butter prawns and deep fried squid with the boyfriend for our iftar with his family.
Abc special fredoo
 I love ABC(ais batu campur) but it's not something I eat often because it's very high in sugar.Recently the boyfriend sorta surprised me with it while I was buying stationery at section 2 as he wait in the car..because he zipped to Fredoo and put it down on the passenger seat and I saw it as I entered the car.:)

Had iftar with my whole office at Fuzion,Sunway Resort last Friday and I have to say that the array of food is astounding.Definitely far better than Hilton PJ which was the previous venue that our boss choose to treat all of us.There's was so much food!I had grilled crabs,salmon sashimi,huge prawns,satay and many more.But their dessert was so-so..I guess because I'm sorta a baker so it didn't reach my standards??hahaha
Homst with the family and the boyfriend
On Saturday had berbuka at Homst with my family and the boyfriend.I've brought my mum and brothers to Homst for lunch before but it was my dad's first time there and he loved the food!We got the ramadhan set which had a lot of different dishes.Steamed siakap,butter prawns,salted egg yolk soft shell crab,kailan,butter chicken,soup,chinese pancake and chinese tea.We ordered 2 jugs of watermelon juice because the chinese tea was for dessert.The service at Homst Shah Alam is as usual,top notch!

Recently Razin's sister wanted to eat Japanese food so Razin and I accompanied her to Ichiban Boshi.It was my second time eating their food but it was Razin's first time.The food was good!I had the business gozen--tempura,grilled mackerel and salmon sashimi.Nommms.

Saw this recipe online and had to try it.It was simple but the pastry is very delicate so you have to be careful in handling it but it's definitely worth it and will wow the people who you make them for.

So much green mangoes

Getting down to business
We have a lot of fruit trees in our garden at home.Recently our mango trees bears a lot of fruit!My mum was too lazy to let them turned ripe because it meant that she had to wrap them in newspaper while they're on the vine.So they pluck the green mangoes(and there's still a lot of them on our trees) and I was left with a heck load of them.

Som tam/kerabu mangga by me!
I gave away a lot of the mangoes to my colleagues and friends.I made mango pickles--mix the slice mangoes with sugar and a little bit of salt.No vinegar because I had the taste of vinegar in mango pickle which is why I never buy them outside.I also grated the mangoes and made som tam/kerabu mangga.

Made buah melaka twice!
I also made buah melaka/onde2 twice for my family and also the boyfriend's family.It's very easy actually but I've tasted bad ones whereby the pandan flavour taste artificial,or the texture is too chewy or not enough gula melaka inside it.

I always blend a few pandan leaves with hot water and extract the juice using a sieve.You can actually watch the video of me making it on my instagram account @liyanahanim :)

His new frying pan
My boyfriend can actually cook and when we went to Empire a few weeks back and was browsing through Aino Living and also The Kitchen Shop,he bought a frying pan which has a two year warranty.Who would have thought that a frying pan comes with a warranty?
So cuteee!
I always help the boyfriend and his mum babysit Qarla and one of the days,her grandma bought her a bathing robe and it was so cute that I put it on her after I bathe her.Look how adorable she looked on top!
Qeema's 24th birthday
Celebrated the boyfriend's little sister's Qeema's 24th birthday.I got her a bouquet of white lilies which is her fave.Glad she liked it.We played fireworks after and I love the picture that I got from it.
The Wolverine midnight movie date night
After Qeema's birthday,Razin and I along with Raushan and his girlfriend Maisara and also Qeema and her friend,went for a midnight movie screening of The Wolverine.It was quite enjoyable!As you can see from the picture above I'm not wearing a smidge of makeup haha Also I wore Razin's H&M jacket which was huge but comfy!

Qarla,Razin's niece has seen me get ready and putting on makeup a few times.I guess she picked it up and she likes to play around with my Bare Minerals brush and also MAC bronzer.She would brush me,Razin and Qeema and it's the cutest thing ever!
A little shopping with Maisara
After Raushan,who's Razin's younger brother left for Australia again,I went out with his girlfriend the next day to bring her shopping as she confided to me how sad and lonely she felt without him around.I can relate to that because both of us are super close with our respective boyfriends.I had a good time and Razin's eldest sis Nana went with us as well.

There's this app called Evian Baby & Me whereby you upload your picture and they'll show you what your supposed future baby will look like.Look at how my baby has a fringe!hahaha

Perfumes galore!
I went to a fragrance and cosmetics warehouse sale with my mum and I went a bit crazy because the prices was insane.Perfumes was like 50-70% off!I grabbed 3 different ones for myself,2 for Razin and bought 1 for his sister Qeema.
Good stuffs from MAC
If you follow me on Twitter(@liyanahanim) you'll know that one of my fave Youtuber is Zoella.She recommended this combination as a face base so many times in her vid.So I bought it.MAC studio sculpt and also MAC mineralize skin finish.I have to say they're amazing and gives me a natural look without feeling cakey/heavy.I rarely if ever wear foundation but I'll keep this for a special occasion.
Crazy bargains!
When I went shopping with Maisara and Nana,the sales were crazy!Stuffs were 50-70% off everywhere.I got mini luggage bag and amazingly cut blazer from MNG for such a low price.The bag was rm69 from rm189 and the blazer was rm169 from rm299!The ALDO shoes with satin lining inside and a hint of sparkly gold glitter was rm57 from rm190!The earrings was also from rm30 to rm15.I bought a few other things as well--a denim biker jacket from H&M(rm59 from rm149!) and jeggings from Uniqlo(so comfy!!)

My favorite colour is purple/lilac/lavender.I was happy to receive the raya outfits above.The left one is from the boyfriend's eldest sister and the right one is from his mother.

Usually every raya,I'll buy my baju very last minute..like the night before raya itself because the prices will be so damn cheap.But this time since I got a lovely pink songket from my friend Shakira,I knew I had to turn it into my raya outfit.I bought fabric for the top part and also search for design that will flattering and pretty.Plus there was input from the tailor and also the boyfriend's eldest sister who brought me to the tailor.The stitching was impeccable and everything cost me less than rm150(fabric + tailoring).I can't wait to wear it soon!

Brushes and mascaras
I don't have a lot of makeup but I have a substantial amount.So I recently organized them into these clear trays and pen holder--both which you can get from Daiso.It looks more neat and tidy.
Topshelf on Flavours
Bought July issue of Flavours and was surprised to see Topshelf,the place where Razin brought me for my birthday dinner,was reviewed on it!I still remember the crispy duck...mmmm delicious!

Lots of movies!!--Evil Dead,VHS 2,Pacific Rim and Monsters University.

As per usual,I watched a lot of movies on a monthly basis..either via download or going to the cinema.Recently I watched Evil Dead and VHS 2 via the projector at the boyfriend's family house with his siblings and the girlfriend of one of his brothers.I watched Monsters University on my birthday with Razin.And recently I watched Pacific Rim with the boyfriend and his siblings!

 Evil Dead

I've never watched the original 1981 movie version in full though the boyfriend has it and he showed snippets of it to me.I can honestly say that this movie is gruesome,terrifying,bloody and very good if you want to be really scared or grossed out.We watched this movie being blown up on the projector at Razin's family house..so the scary parts was looming on us on the wall haha.

I was very impressed over the fact that the lead actress is Jane Levy whom I've watched in Suburgatory.It's very different seeing her in a scary possessed role because Suburgatory was a comedy.There's Lou Taylor Pucci and Shiloh Fernandez in the movie as well.

Basically it's about Mia who's a drug addict,and her brother and her friends brought her to her family's former cabin in the woods to detox her system. But things go wrong when one of them decided to open an evil book which they found inside the house.

There was some seriously disturbing parts in the movie which I had to use a pillow to cover my eyes.I would suggest you to watch this movie with a bunch of friends.There's no point of being scared and grossed out alone.hahaha


VHS 2


If you have watched VHS,you would have known what VHS 2 will be about.Basically it's a collection of short footage containing scary and paranormal stuffs watched from VHS tapes.There were moments in this movie whereby I was clutching the pillow over my face but overall it was mediocre.There were zombies that looked pretty real but overall I've to say that VHS was better in terms that it was more believable and scarier.

But props to some well know Indonesian actors and actresses being featured on this movie though their part of the footage was very over the top!If only they stopped when it was very scary instead of continuing and making it look very comical.

I watched the movie with the boyfriend and his siblings and everybody agreed that it wasn't that enjoyable.


Pacific Rim

This movie surprised me because I didn't know much about it nor did I watch the trailer.But the boyfriend did and last week my Twitter feed was filled with people from my friends,various Hollywood celebrities as well..tweeting how the movie was awesome.

So I went to watch the movie on last two Sundays and I have to say that it was a great watch.Adrenaline pumping!I was surprised when I saw Rinko Kikuchi in it.She almost made me cry while watching the movie!I didn't recognize a lot of the actors in the movie.

The movie is set in 2020,when the world are attacked by Kaijus--huge Godzilla-like alien monsters.So we build Jaegers to take them down.Jaegers are handled by 2 people who are usually blood related because they have to link their brain together in order to be in sync with the machine.

After watching the movie,I wish that there's a game of that kind for Xbox..maybe there is but since I don't have an Xbox,I've no idea if it exists..haha.

Monsters University

Monsters Inc came out 12 YEARS AGO!Wowwww that was a long time.Now they came out with Monsters University,a prequel to show how Mike and Sulley met.I watched this with Razin on my birthday(25th June) at the Beanie plex(so comfy and it's my..third time I think watching movies at TGV's Beanie Plex).

I have to say that I enjoyed watching the movie.There were parts in the movie that made me laughed until I snorted(you know..making pig sounds..naturally.hahah).It's basically about how Mike got to enter the university of his dreams and he met Sulley who's the popular guy on campus due to who his father is.

There's many cute(-ish?) monsters in the movie.And I love the challenges that they had to go through in order to win the Scare Games.Although there was no Boo in the movie,it was still very enjoyable and funny!

Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown,Masterchef season 4 and Hell's Kitchen season 11

I love watching cooking/food tv shows.Current tv shows that I've been downloading and have been watching are described in the title of the post.

I'm going to break down what the shows are all about.

1)Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown(CNN)


If you're a fan of Anthony's No Reservations like I am,you should definitely watch this series.It's a bit different than No Reservations but he still eats a lot of good food.The different is that he goes to places that are either controversial/far off or have been in political turmoil.The last episode will come out soon,which by what Bourdain tweeted about will be about Congo.

Some of my favorite episodes were when he was in Los Angeles and Canada.In Los Angeles he went to Koreantown,and explore the history of LA Riots.In Canada,he met these two chefs that really like to eat good food.They carried black truffles with them everywhere!Even when they went on a train ride,they shave the truffles on their omelets.That episode was amazing.People in Quebec,Canada eat like kings.haha.

The other episodes like Morocco(Tangiers) and Libya was good too because we could see how the situation there is now.Especially in Libya,which Bourdain said was his best episode ever.It was quite dangerous for them as well,judging by what I watched.

There's only 8 episodes in total,and you can download all of them on eztv.it.

2)Masterchef (season 4)

I love Masterchef USA.The three judges are awesome--Gordon Ramsay,Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot.This time for season 4 the auditions was even tougher.

Some of the challenges this season was very interesting..they had a lemon meringue pie challenge,macaron challenge,there ingredients that Malaysians are familiar with that was inside the mystery box--rambutan/tempeh,there was a wedding challenge where the bride had a long list of things that she doesn't eat,there was a dozen cupcakes to be baked for an elimination challenge,a butter poached lobster challenge(which I think is the hardest thus far!) and also an eggs benedict elimination challenge.

Right now the season is up to episode 15 and I'm loving it!Among all of the contestants,I'm very fond of Jessie because not only is she super pretty but she can cook very well!

But remember the winner of Masterchef season 2,Jennifer?Her meal was thrown into the dustbin by Joe a few episodes early in the competition.So the winner could be anybody as long as they're willing to improve.But I've to admit that there has never been a male Masterchef winner!

I watched all of the episodes with my boyfriend and he absolutely abhors Krissy because she's just a very mean person.I've never seen Razin disliking someone so much on tv before!hahaha

 3)Hell's Kitchen season 11

If you love Gordon Ramsay as much as my family and I do,it means that you basically have watched almost all of his television shows--Kitchen Nightmares,Gordon's Great Escapes,Gordon Behind Bars,Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Cookery Course..I've watched and downloaded them all.hahaha

Can you believe that it's the 11th season now?I have to say that this season,the blue(guy's) team got beaten hard.They just keep losing every challenge!It was very painful to watch.Right now,there's only three contestants left.Two girls and one guy. I've no idea who will win though!

It's July already and we're halfway through 2013!Wowww..time flies so fast.

Before I start,just want to inform those who wants to order raya cookies/cakes/cupcakes please proceed to my baking blog by clicking HERE.

I watched a few movies recently but haven't got the time to write about my views on it here..along with quite a number of new tv series/reality tv shows that I'm watching(I download everything because I'm impatient to wait for it being shown on our national tv and plus there's the censorship issue!haha) and books that I'm reading and have read.Arghhh so many pending things to blog about that I just leave them be in draft mode.

I swear I use to blog a lot more during my uni student days 3 years ago. I've been abandoning this blog for a few weeks.So sorry for that!

As usual,I take a lot of pictures using my iphone and I prefer to describe them in the post to make things easier for me haha Some of the food pictures might not be appropriate for those who are fasting.

Because now it's the holy month of Ramadhan for muslims all over the world.Granted,most of the food pictures below were taken before the month of Ramadhan.:P
Sushi!

Had Sushi Zanmai for my second time(first time was with the boyfriend's sister when I went out with her last year to find presents for Razin's 27th birthday) a few days after my birthday,treated by my boss!It was goooddd..The food that we ordered,is in the picture above.My fave was the cranky salmon maki.


One of my favorite food these past 1-2 weeks was pasta with my homemade bolognese and mozarella on top.Baked until it's a bit brown on top.Delicious!


Limited Rainbow
Went to Limited Rainbow store launching party with the boyfriend's sister,Raqeema because the store owner is one of her bestfriends. They have a lot of pretty stuffs there!So people,do go to their shop(click on their name on top).Afterwards,we walked around the Sunway Giza area.
Love the beautiful necklace!
Managed to buy a dress there and also a few hair products.We found this beautiful necklace above and I'm thinking of getting it soon.:P
Ichiban Boshi!
Popped my Ichiban Boshi AND Artisan Roast Coffee cherry in one day!Had an early dinner at Ichiban Boshi and it was delicious.Though Qeema said that they've raise their prices considerably.

Afterwards we went to a bazaar at TTDI whereby I bought 3 bags from Wearerack for only rm50!What a steal.(pic of my buys below) Had coffee at Artisan Roast Coffee(pic above) for my first time afterwards and I had their bottled iced latte and I shared a caramel slice(soo good!),grasshopper slice and also lemon bar with Qeema.
Love my buys especially the maxi dress and lilac studded jelly purse.
After my long day out with Qeema(we went out from 2pm-9pm!),I played Taboo with the boyfriend and his family(his parents joined as well!) and went home around 1am!Yikesss haha

Because I was sleepy,I forgot to take my Smart Tag which I depend on to go to work with as it also contain my Touch N Go haha Imagine queuing up at the cash lane at NKVE while heading to work..NIGHTMARE!

My hero!
Luckily my boyfriend was willing to drive to my family house on Sunday to pass me the smart tag..he bought my fave lele penyet for dinner as well!nommms I was busy baking cookies the whole Sunday and wanted to stay at home.Also had to help my little brother who had a bbq with his friends on our lawn.


Breakfast date!
Had a rare breakfast date with the boyfriend at Popiah S.S.Ali which is my faveeee place for popiah goreng/basah and mee rebus in Shah Alam.Surprisingly the place(they have a cafe in section 7,same row as Kunzense) was open at 10 am and we managed to get a piping hot bowl of mee rebus each with a plate of popiah goreng.Happy meeeee!

Pretty shoes for a bargain!
Went to Nose warehouse sale and managed to grab these 3 pairs of beauties for only--rm50!!They were selling 3 pairs of shoes for rm25/55.I choose the rm55 for 3 pairs but managed to get rm5 off due to a voucher they gave me for liking their FB page.

I went on the first day but I heard that they come out with new designs every day.But I was really happy with my purchases especially the sexy red satin stilletos!Gotta give credit to my friend Shakira who gave me the tip about the sale!:)
I love the pastries at Komugi as you can tell from my previous posts.Had this a few weeks ago and it was perfect!It was only rm4 something if I'm not mistaken.

Nestle came out with their own Greek yogurt.This is delicious and I had it during sahur.Unfortunately it's not available at your regular Tesco because I checked and I bought it from my fave place to buy groceries from--Jaya Grocer Warehouse(in Bukit Jelutong).

Had dinner at Papa John's with the boyfriend,his mum,eldest sis,2 brothers and Maisara(his brother's Raushan's gf).Thanks to Nana(his eldest sis) for treating all of us.We got a free plate of baked rice because they accidentally made extras!Yeayy :p
Afterwards we went to Tesco cos Nana&aunty wanted to buy groceries and then the boyfriend&his brothers put on the projector so we can all watch Evil Dead(2013).It was scary and gross!
Everybody passed out in the living room after the movie and in the morning,Razin and I made breakfast for everyone.
I made buttermilk pancakes using Martha Stewart's recipe(make your own buttermilk--mix milk with 1 tablespon vinegar/lemon juice and add more until milk mixture thickens a little bit).Razin fried hashbrowns using the air fryer which his eldest sister bought for their mum.


For Sunday lunch,Razin and I brought his youngest brother to Sushi Zanmai.We got a table and didn't have to join the long queue because I managed to reserve a table an hour before we went there!Score!

The food was good as usual!Total bill for the 3 of us was rm120+ because the boys ordered a lot--Razin even ordered caviar sushi&oyster sumtin along with his fave unagi don and temaki.

I had the cranky salmon maki,small karaage don(which wasn't that good&I won't order it again)and soft shell crab roll.Raidi had the large ebi don(that was really good&I would order that next time!) and a pretty kyoho soda.

Ended the meal with 3 scoops of ice cream--black sesame,yuzu and melon.

Had this dulang meal at Old Town White Coffee with all of the ladies at my office for our 2nd last lunch together before Ramadhan starts and it was good which was unexpected.It came with a drink(you get 3 choices) & a dessert.

The beef rendang(you can choose chicken as well) was very tender and I love the keropok lekor &the many veggies!The only downside was the chicken satay which was overpowering with turmeric from the marinate.

Had a potluck at the office,a day before Ramadhan.I brought lychee pudding and macaroni with bolognese sauce,all homemade of course!
Went to Bukit Bintang with the boyfriend to help him buy a new speaker.His second one this year btw haha His previous Altec Lansing one went kaputt after it was used for 2 nights for his family movie nights.Poor thing because he purchased it like 2 months ago?
So decided to splurge and bought this top of the line speakers which was huge.Apparently it is the 2nd best speakers for pc.The first was cost 1k+(gulp!).This was supposed to be 1200 2 years ago but now marked down to 749!Glad you're happy baby!:)
I got myself these pretty pastel Sharpies when we were at Low Yatt and also redeemed my birthday gift from Sephora!I love how compact the makeup pallete is&I can put it in my handbag.

Anyway,how's your Ramadhan so far?I've been feeling lethargic at work due to the fact that I sleep at 11.30pm or 12 am and then wake up for sahur at 4.30am.Sleep again at 6am and then wake up at 7.30am for work..zzzzz

My first day of berbuka with my family was a bit hectic cos the parents came back from the bazaar 10 mins before berbuka(cos too many people there,precisely why I avoid bazaar ramadhan)&we were scrambling to prepare the food that I forgot to take a picture hahaha Oh well,who cares!:p

But for the 2nd day of fasting,I break my fast with the boyfriend's family at Hotel Singgahsana,thanks to his father who treated all of us!Picture is below.

Yesterday I break my fast with them again(because their house is nearer from my office--15 mins,than my parents house-45 mins)and I went to section 6 night market(my fave during non-puasa month) to buy drinks and desserts(cos his mum cooked lauk) with Razin's youngest sister.

Funny thing was that the boyf's dad went to another bazaar,his eldest sister went as well and so did one of his brothers.So we had a lot of food last night.Pictured below.
Lastly,I've been meaning to get a bottle of perfume that last long because my mum got me a bottle of Hugo Boss Orange a few months ago and it doesn't stay long at all..only a few mins tops.

Initially I wanted to buy Coach perfume but the want I wanted didn't come in a set and I ended up buying the one below instead.

Got Jimmy Choo's perfume in EDT,60ml.I always prefer to buy EDP but the salesperson Ika assured me that the EDT lasts a long time too and it smells nicer than the EDP which she was right!

And afterwards when I got back I googled the review between the smell of the EDT and EDP and many preferred the EDT smell.
