Warm gold raya makeup look(Althea's Eid Collection)

Monday, June 20, 2016 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Hi my dear readers!Today is the day of the reckoning...hahaha.Actually the video has been live since this morning. :P

It's my first time ever..making a Youtube video.A makeup tutorial video at that.I don't feel that I'm that good in doing makeup,it's more for myself more than anything as I love buying and trying new makeup products.

When Althea approached me for this idea,I was like..why not? I've been meaning to do a video but was a bit daunted by it. I finally bite the bullet and did it after 8 years of blogging!

Some of the things that I learned from making my own makeup tutorial video was that:

1)In the video,I've already put on my base but apparently you need to put on a lotttt. I thought that my foundation and concealer was already pretty thick but looking at the video... it's..not!!As you can still some of the zits and eyebags that I have.*Cries* Oh well, will improve next time!

2)Editing a video takes a longggg time.It can take a whole day sometime(depending on how busy your day is).But Final Cut Pro X makes it quite simple actually. It's just that when you have 20 mins worth of footage, you have to cut it and that will take some time. But after I've done it,I felt so relieved!

3)I need a better background. This background was basically the curtains on my canopy bed.haha.

4)Also,I need to stop covering my face too much while I'm doing my makeup.

Besides all of the above,it was actually quite enjoyable.Who knows maybe I'll do a June favourites video soon?

Meanwhile, enjoy my Warm Gold Raya Makeup Look!I love the combination of brown eyeshadow and gold pigment. It's very simple and suits a lot of different skin tone. Althea is one of my favourite website to buy beauty products from and they have great prices & fast shipping. I've purchase items from them quite a number of times and they never disappoint!

Yes there's a typo in the video..I thought I typed in "undereye" and not "underage".FML.Oh well.

The products from Althea's Glam Eid Collection that I used(all of them are under rm50!):

1 . http://my.althea.kr/selfie-fix-pigment

I love these as they're so pigmented but they do have quite a bit of fall out..hence why I "baked" my undereye in the video.

2. http://my.althea.kr/popo-lipstick

This lipstick is inexpensive and it's so creamy. They have such a wide range of colours and I love the one that I choose as it's a warm orange red.

3. http://my.althea.kr/love-me-blusher

Again, Witch's Pouch is a great Korean beauty brand. This blusher is huge and it also comes with its own brush but I didn't use it though. But the brush is definitely better than a lot of blush compact brushes.

4. http://my.althea.kr/jewel-light-water...

This eyeliner applies so smoothly and I just love it!!

5. http://my.althea.kr/etude-house-dr-ma...

This is an eyelash primer that you apply before you put on mascara to boost it even further. It's really awesome especially for your less than great mascara as it'll improve the formula.

6. http://my.althea.kr/saemmul-browcara

Although the brush of this eyebrow mascara/browcara is pretty huge, it did a really good job in thickening my eyebrows. Definitely something that you can use real quick when you don't have the time to draw your eyebrows.

Again,to remind you that in the video,I've already done my base so I just focus on everything else on my face. As it was my first time, even without doing my base in the video, the footage I took was 19 minutes! I manage to shorten it to 4 minutes. Phewwww.

The brushes that I use in the video:

1) Zoeva 109 Luxe Face Paint

I have had this for a longgg time and I use it for contour. It's amazing.

2) Sigma F10 Powder/Blush brush

I loveee this brush and I use it everytime I want to apply blusher on my face. I've had it for quite some time as well.

3) Real Techniques Setting Brush

I use this brush to apply highlighter as it's the perfect size for it. I just love it. The first proper set of brushes that I got was Real Techniques and it's been..5 years ( they were first sold in 2011!) and I still have them.

4) Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I actually bought this sponge because my Beauty Blender got a lot of ink stain on it (accidentally) and I wanted to find a cheaper version but still does a great job. This sponge is amazing and I actually love it more than the BB because of the shape of it. I've bought two of this and they're just really great.

5) Real Techniques Ultimate Eye Set

I love this for my eyes as well. I use two of the brushes in the video but I can't remember their names. haha.

Hope that you somewhat enjoyed my video! haha

Kiss Me Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara Advanced Film

Sunday, June 19, 2016 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I love mascara and I am always on the lookout for the best ones out there.I've found quite a few impressive ones but there's always a new product that comes out in the market.

Recently,I was given a tube of Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara Advanced Film from Kiss Me for me to review. Now,I love Kiss Me and I have blogged about their products in the past. It's such a great Japanese cosmetics brand.

They came out with a new mascara and it's different from any of the mascaras that I have in my collection. What makes this tube of mascara different from all the others is that, the formula makes the mascara smudge proof and waterproof but yet,it can easily be removed using facial soap. That is amazing!

I've a few waterproof mascaras and they're always so difficult to remove.Even when I use makeup removes like Bioderma or makeup wipes, there will always be traces of the mascara left on my lashes.

This mascara also contains 2mm fibers, which makes it super thickening and have great volumizing effects for your eyelashes. The formula also ensures that the mascara doesn't flake and gives you that panda effect on your undereye.

The ingredients in the mascara are camellia oil, royal jelly extract, argan oil and wild rose oil.Clearly you've heard about those ingredients and how great they are for our hair and skin.Imagine putting them on your lashes!

You can see from the picture below how the mascara just transform my lashes and makes my eyes pop!
Left:Wearing the mascara only on my left eye.

I definitely love this mascara and would recommend you girls out there to buy it.It's especially great to be given as a gift as well, because look at the kawaii packaging. It's so cute!
Such a difference!

The mascara is available for purchase at selected Sasa and Watsons outlets across Malaysia for RM 49.90.So go and get yours today!

Food review:Ten Years Ramadhan Combo

Wednesday, June 15, 2016 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Ramadhan is here!Although I prefer to cook and break my fast at home with my husband, sometimes it's nice to go out and try something new.Recently I went to Ten Years in Sri Petaling,to try out some of their main dishes and their Ramadhan Combo. All the pictures taken below are taken by me,except for the promo posters :)

From all the dishes that I've tried, the Tiger Char Kuey Teow and Nasi Kerabu was my favourite.I love the little details of the restaurant..like the stack of biscuit tins at their counter.(pictured below)

About Ten Years

In the recent years, many local foods are slowly disappearing due to the modern influences. Younger generation prefers trend over traditional resulting in lesser authentic local food business in Malaysia. From the 60’s leading up to the 90’s, Malaysian food culture has been losing its taste of authenticity due to changes of trends. Ten Years is a restaurant that brings popular local foods from every corner of Malaysia under one roof. Ten Years officially launched on the 17th September 2015 in Sri Petaling. Their logo – 4 “10” and a red dot in the middle representing connecting people from 4 different decades through food.

Ensuring the new generations to come and be able to enjoy these local and traditional delicacies, Ten Years team took the effort to hunt down what are the popular food in every state of Malaysia. There are 3 conditions in order for a food to be considered as their signature dish in the restaurant.

First, high rating in social media and endorsed by TV media. Second, has proven track record with long queue. Third, must have historic figure (been operating for more than 10 years) and state representative.

There are currently 8 signature recipes from few famous road side hawkers such as Nancy’s Kitchen Nyonya Laksa from Malacca, Nasi Lemak Panas Yati from Petaling Jaya, Nasi Dagang Kak Pah from Kuala Terengganu and others. Apart from the 8 signature dishes, Ten Years also created their own menu with strong local influence such as Grilled Chicken Percik Sauce, Prawn Curry Carbonara, ‘Ang Mo’ Kat Chai and many more.

Their dining area also resemble each decades from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, allowing the patrons to indulge in the different themes while enjoying their meal. Ten Years was started off with a dream to preserve Malaysian food culture by passing it on to the next generation and knowing the importance to safeguard the food culture heritage. Fame Soft Matte Lip Cream reviews:Gossip and Violet.

Friday, June 10, 2016 Liyana Hanim 1 Comments

Can't believe that it's June already!Salam Ramadhan!Hope all of you are having a great fasting month so far.

I've been slacking on blogging because I've been back to work.Let me start the month by reviewing something that I love...matte liquid lipsticks.I've sooo many of them from different brands that I've no time to blog about them..instead I just keep buying them.haha.

Anyway,I've been skeptical about local beauty products for so long until I tried brands such as Safi Balqis(I've used their diamond cream something2 haha) and of course Silky Girl(not all of their products, just some are good).

But today I will not be talking about them.Today i'll be talking about a local liquid lipstick brand that's quite well-known nowadays.I came to know about them from my sister in law, who's a freelance makeup artist.

I was given two of their latest shade of liquid lipsticks Gossip and Violet for me to test out and review.

From my first impression,I like their simple packaging. The doe foot applicator is the perfect size to apply the liquid lipstick on my lips. Also, the liquid lipsticks smells like strawberries and cream lollipop!
Top:Gossip.Bottom:Violet
When I swatched them, you can see how pigmented they are.One swipe is all you need to apply the liquid lipstick and I love that. Also the texture is in between a mousse-y type of liquid lipstick(like Ofra) and a liquid-y type(like LA Girl). The formula of the Fame liquid lipstick makes it so easy to apply on your lips to get a precise and clean application.

I do love these but there's one downside about them..they do dry completely matte BUT,it takes awhile for it to dry.So you have to wait for it to dry and try not to smack your lips while they're drying.
Gossip

They dry completely matte and doesn't transfer. It doesn't dry out my lips and it doesn't crack or emphasize any fine lines. It feels comfortable and like you're not wearing anything on your lips!I love it!
Violet

Other than that, with the price point of these liquid lipsticks,I don't see why you girls out there shouldn't buy them! They come in so many colours and would go well for your makeup look for Raya,or for any day for that matter.Surprisingly, with the amount of coral liquid lipsticks that I have in my collection,I actually prefer Violet over Gossip.I love the color and it's great for everyday.
