Apakah?

This post will be in Bahasa Malaysia(the Malay language),due to what I want to write about is best expressed using my native language..:P

Hari ini hati sedikit terguris sebab ada kwn saya tuh kan(bukan kwn rapat, kwn sepejabat),dia ckp yang dia ingat saya ni tak tahu masak!Sebab tadi saya bawak kek red velvet yg kwn saya Rehan, order dari saya,ke ofis.
Oh memang, sebelum ni tak ambil order kek sebab memang takde masa.Choc chip cookies pon saya buat time raya je or utk Jezmine sbb saya selalu beli baju kat Old Blossom Box.

Tapi sebab Rehan memang kawan yang baik & banyak menolong saya di ofis, saya pon luangkan masa buat kek tu untuk dia & dia pon siap bayar in advance jadi lagilah saya kena buat.hehe

Jadi, pendekkan cerita, slh seorg dari kwn ofis saya rasa la kek saya buat tu sebab Rehan baik & kongsi kek tu dengan kawan2..Pastu kawan saya tu ckp sedap & terkejut sebab dia kata dari gaya saya, macam saya seorg yg xreti masak..

Apakah maksud itu?Dia kata sebab saya bukan muka macam orang melayu--duhhh..dah mama saya arab/melayu & ayah pulak cina muslim/jawa.Memang taklah kan muka saya macam orang melayu.Dan dia juga cakap pasal gaya saya.
*Melayu tak?Ke macam nyonya?ahaha..Yang tulis ayat kurengs kat gambar ni ialah boyfriend saya..dia yg edit dengan 'kreatif'nyer..ahaha*

Mungkin sebab saya ni memang menjaga penampilan--tapi takdelah control 24-jam..boleh je kene hujan/panas terik & pernah camping dalam hutan & pakai makeup pon setakat eyeliner & lipbalm je hari2.
*Kalau Melayu kenapa rambut awak warna mcm tu?ahahaha..sshhhhh!*

Oh tapi saya memang melayu okay..Bukan hanya baking kek/cookies atau buat makanan Barat/Italian sahaja--saya memang suka cuba resepi makanan yang saya suka jadi apa yang saya tahu masak, dia takde genre yang spesifik!Bahkan, masakan melayu pon saya reti masak ok!

Sebab nenek belah mama orang Aloq Setaq, jadi masakan mcm Laksa Utara,Mee Rebus,Masak Lemak Kuning Jantung Pisang,Kuih Cara,Bingka Roti,Lepat Pisang,Sambal tumis petai,& mcm2 lagi saya tahu.

Tapi takpelah, bak kata boyfriend saya, sekarang ramai sangat perempuan tak tahu masak.Sebab tu lah kawan saya tu terkejut.Jadi saya patut rasa bangga, bukannyer terasa.hahah.Okay2..Pikir yang positif!!

VERTIGO

Some things can happen at the worse time possible.2 days before the seminar that my classmates and I,U8C,have been planning for more than 3 months,I got sick.On Wednesday, after watching Monalisa Smile at the fac for my Women Lit class,I went back home and while I was getting in the car,I suddenly felt my head rotating to my left, like I was about to pass out from lack of sleep. So I thought it was nothing, ate a sweet and drove home.At night,I felt really horrible. Whenever I turn my head to the right,it rotates full circle, like the feeling when you’re seasick.

I cannot turn my head to either side and all I could do was stay still and lay down.I asked my cousin why am I feeling this way and she told me maybe because I should sleep. So I slept. And when I woke up in the morning, around 6.30am,it got WORSE.I thought maybe it’s because I haven’t wash my hair, so I shampooed but it was still there. I felt nauseous & vomit the water that I drank. Asked my aunt to bring me to the nearest 24hr clinic and the doctor told me that I have Vertigo, forgot to ask him much & he was very nonchalant & was like, it’ll past in 3 to 4 days..WTF!!I don’t have 3 to 4 days!! I guess because I just felt really nauseous, I just wanted to get out of there & take my meds and go back to bed. The doc gave me an MC and I went home, puking some more when I went back---like I said, it’s like seasick all the time although you’re walking normally.

I can only take the 2 meds that the doc gave, twice in a day.So I slept, hoping against hope that I would recover in time to help my classmates set up for our seminar that night.I had to eat in bed, lying down, using a spoon so that I could take my meds, which required me to eat first.I could not eat sitting down or walked or sit after I ate because that meant I would puke again.blergghh.

Basically all I could do was stay in bed. But still that night,it got worse.I only ate like 1 nasi himpit the WHOLE day from the lontong that my aunt bought.I ate like 2 cornflakes cookies in the evening but ended up puking it again when I went to the bathroom..yes,walking to the loo made me puke too. The next morning,I woke up early in hopes that I would be able to attend the seminar that I helped design the booklet, the montage, and findthe designer for the banner and bunting---but NO.Still could not walk further than the room to the bathroom without having to lay down on the bed to alleviate the nausea.

In the evening,my dad came and my whole family was there too since school was closed. My parents brought me to the family doctor instead because I wanted a second opinion. He explained a lot about my situation.Thank God!Because I was just so confuse over how this could have happened so suddenly, without any warning. He said that now that it has happened---IT WOULD HAPPEN FREQUENTLY.Atleast once in a year.I was like..WHAT??????

He told me that there’s an imbalance happening to my middle ear, which is inside my head, which makes me feel seasick/mabuk + nauseous. All I can do is make sure that I have extra meds with me at all time.Because it could happen anytime.I was like, but all I could do when it happens is to stay in bed.He was like yes,and try to relax. My mum was there beside me & she asked what triggers it to happen, what is something eat I ate and he say no,it just happens.Great.Now I have to live with it!!!!I pray that it won’t happen again during important times because staying in bed while important things are happening or needs to be done is NOT FUN!!!

There, vertigo might seem like a cool word, but it is not cool once it actually happens to you.Not cool at all to feel like everything is spinning at all time and puking even the water that you drink.NOT COOL!!!A senior of mine told me that he has vertigo too & it took him 3 weeks to recover..3 WEEKS!!!I pray it won’t happen during finals!*gulp*...Thanks so much to Hafriz who helped me by playing the montage that I did for the seminar cos’ I can’t be there & also to all my colleagues of U8C PD class for my absence at a crucial time..sigh.Today is the 4 & ½ day that I’m experiencing vertigo and it’s not as bad during the first 2 days...I soo don’t want to go there again..:(

This story reminds me of a friend

I went to Bryan Boy's blog and found this entry on Ali Micheal. On how she was only picked for one Paris show because they claim that her legs is too fat and in the recent TeenVogue article, she said that because she was pressured to lose weight, she didn't get her period in over a year and the doctor said because of the fact that she is not consuming any fat into her body, her level of estrogen is so low that she might not be able to have children on the account that her ovaries have shut down.Below,is the interview with Ali Micheal on the Today Show.

And this is the article that was featured on TeenVogue

http://www.teenvogue.com/industry/2008/05/alimichael

I have a friend who a while back ago was so obsessed over losing weight(you know who you are & I hope you're not doing that anymore) and yup,her mother brought her to the doctor and the doc said that some of her hormones are low and others are too high.I used to live with her and yeah,a person's diet does affect their health. When you don't eat properly, you kind of know that sooner or later your hormones will act up and that what happened to my friend.Hmm..I guess Ali's story does resemble what she was going through. But not just her either...I have another friend who didn't get her period for months because of her diet. It's worrying because like it or not,the pressure to be thin does not just exist among models,it exist in the 'real' world too.Granted, afew years ago,I even had a friend who paste pictures of before and after of Lindsay Lohan(she used to be healthy and then skinny) on her desk to motivate her to lose more weight(didn't matter the fact that she wasn't even overweight!).

But then again you just have to ask..Why do these girls who are not overweight in the first place, feels the need to lose more weight?A friend of mine that I mentioned above whom had problems with her hormones, was hurt over the remark of a former friend over her weight and that sparked off the whole obsess with her weight thing but even a year after that remark, she still had problems with her eating habits.Does it mean that once you start to lose weight 'unhealthily' you find it hard to be healthy again?Or does it all stem from insecurity and lack of self esteem? It is something to ponder about.Early this semester,I also started to lose weight a after 2 of my guy friend said that I have started to look chubbier. But I didn't stop eating,I just exercise my ass off, doing Mari Windsor's Pilates everyday. But I haven't done so in over 2 months and have been eating too much 'bad' foods and yeah,I have gain a few pounds now.I know that as long as I get back on the right track and exercise more, the pounds will come off.So here's a toast in being healthy!

What is the world becoming to?

I have been putting off blogging about this for weeks now because I wanted to write it well but didn't have the time to do so.This blog of mine is not just about what I do in my life or about fluff such as my wishlist.I am more than that. There are times when I touch on an important issue that manage to garner my attention enough to write about it here. There has been two news that have captured my attention over the last few weeks. The first, being the news about the monster of a fatherJosef Fritzl.Although recent updates of the news,he states that he is not a monster, the horrible and utterly revolting act that he did, justifies that he is a monster in my eye!

Since the whole world is getting riled up over the news, here are a few links pertaining the new so that you guys can read them.

My opinion about it?The neighbourhood and the society living there should be blame partly because come on,of course they know something was amiss with the family!!!He kept his daughter for 24 years in the basement & she even got pregnant and bore him 7 children! And he has another 7 children from his marriage with his wife who lives in the house while he has another family below the house? How fucking twisted..and if he's not a monster then his akin to a devil living on earth!

The 2nd news,is the one that I have typed below....

WOMAN JAILED FOR RUNNING SEX CLUB FEATURING KIDS

TYLER(Texas):A jury again needed just 4mins on Thursday to convict an organiser of an East Texas swinger's club where prosecutors say young children were forced to perform sexual acts for an audience.

Shauntel Mayo,29,was then sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty on charges that she forced 3 siblings, ages 7 through 10,to have sex with each other or perform sexual acts for club members who paid to watch.

(How despicable is this????Imagine how this will affect the kids as they grow older?Victims of sexual abuse usually don't grow up well because they will end up being traumatized over the experience that they had gone through in the past.)

In March,Mayo's 36 year-old boyfriend,Jamie Pittman, was also found guilty in four minutes. He was sentenced to life in prison after jurors deliberated for just 2 mins.

Some jurors cried during testimony in Mayo's 3-day trial, the Tyler Morning-Telegraph reported.

Mayo was convicted of engaging in organised criminal activity and 2 counts of sexual performance of a child.Jurors deliberated six minutes in the punishment phase, and state District Judge Jack Skeen Jr ordered that Mayo serve a minimum of 25 years before becoming eligible for parole.

During the trial, the children testified how Mayo and other defendants began teching them at age 5(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) how to dance and perform sex acts. They were also given drugs which the adults called "silly pills" to help them perform (can someone please just kill these people for me????)

4 other defendants in the case are awaiting trial.(I hope all of them burn in hell!)

On a greater note, here's a news that restored my faith in humanity....

Taken from State Side by Foo Yee Ping

IT WAS July 28, 2004, and the baby photo being downloaded was coming in at a snail’s pace.

“We were still using dial-up Internet access then. What appeared was the top of a little bald head,” recalled Jennifer Maslowski, an art appraiser.

Eventually, Maslowski and her husband saw the full referral photo of the baby sent by the adoption agency. “She looked like a little Buddha!”

Delighted, the couple travelled to China six weeks later, their first step towards parenthood.
“I was excited. My husband was more emotional. He cried the whole time!” she said, laughing at the memory. The decision to adopt came somewhat naturally to them. “It’s just something that we wanted to do.”

It isn’t a road less travelled (think Meg Ryan, for a Hollywood example). According to the US State Department, China topped the list of countries issued orphan visas.Last year, 5,453 visas were given out. There has been a gradual drop since 2005, when almost 8,000 visas were issued.

For Maslowski, 36, skin colour is irrelevant. “A baby is a baby. It is so easy to fall in love with kids. And I’m from New York City, certainly not a place where everybody looks like me.”

In fact, the couple would have opted for Haiti if the Chinese adoption had not gone through.
The adoption process was tedious.
“There were lots of paperwork, medical records, pictures of your home, financial and police background check, child abuse check, social workers’ visits ... and you’re finger-printed as well,” she said.

The cost ranges from US$15,000 to US$25,000 (RM48,000 to RM80,000).
It took 54 weeks for her to become a mother. Unlike her husband Bill Schmidt, Maslowski admitted that she did not bond immediately with the 10-month-old girl they saw at the orphanage in Guangzhou.

“I was happy and comfortable taking care of her. But I wasn’t like throwing myself in front of the bus for her.”
But two weeks later, it all sank in and her tears flowed.

Today, the baby who was once full of scabies and heat rash (“her skin was a mess”) has grown into a happy five-year-old girl who often amazes her adoptive parents.
“She’s very tall for her age,” the proud mama said. With a long name, too: Their little Buddha is now Alida Frances Shan Schmidt.

Maslowski herself is involved with Families with Children from China, an organisation which provides support for parents and prospective ones. She is their Manhattan coordinator.

The child from Middle Kingdom has opened a new world for the Schmidts.
“We celebrate Chinese New Year! This Beijing Olympics, we are rooting for China. And Alida has a collection of cheongsam which she wears to cultural events or playgroup outings. All her dolls are Chinese.”Alida loves going for her Mandarin classes. “My husband and I attended classes as well but had a hard time.”

The couple would take another shot at the lessons in September.
“She has been such a gift. She’s everybody’s pet ... her grandparents and aunts. A little spoilt, I must say,” Maslowski said, laughing.

There have been no regrets whatsoever although Maslowski acknowledged that people would always know that Alida is adopted whenever they looked at the family.
“She is always going to have to deal with it,” Maslowski said.

Things, however, are easier in New York where everybody is from somewhere else.
“Alida knows she came out from somebody else’s tummy. She would look at the photo album of our trip to China to get her.”

The family has not faced any nasty encounters although it had happened to a friend of Maslowski's who also adopted a foreign-born child.
A stranger had remarked to her: “Next time, buy American.”

Finances permitting, the family would visit China next year.
“Some day, we would want to search for her real parents,” she said, for the sake of Alida, originally from Dongguan in central Guangzhou, who might wonder about her past in future.

Her advice for prospective adoptive parents?
“Enjoy it. It is going to be okay,” she said, repeating similar words of comfort that someone gave her while she was waiting for the adoption to come through.
“I was told that sometimes, people are going to say something bad. But no matter what, it is going to be okay.”

People sometimes amaze me

There are many type of people in this world
People of different belief
People of different ideologies
People of different races

But it's unfortunate that in this world
There are people who refused
To accept that everybody is different
And unique in their own way
Nobody is perfect
Except the Almighty
And who are we to judge others?

Unfortunately again,there are people
Who find pleasure
In dissing others
In bashing others

And there are others
Who use religion as an excuse
To 'advice' others
Because they 'care' about their friends
When in fact, they fail to look at their own faults
They fail to see that they too have made mistakes
But they aren't able to see it
Instead they find other people mistakes
And point it out for others to see
Who's the sinner here?

It's laughable
It's hilarious

I have no idea how these kind of people will survive
In the real world
A world outside of their group
A world where whether we want to or not,
You will be faced with people who are different than you
Who you may not agree with their beliefs or they way they lead their life

And I can't wait for that day to come...

This worries me..a lot!

My former lecturer,Pn.Marina once told me that,I always feel strongly about certain issues and it makes me able to write pages and pages on any article that I feel strongly about. This one article that I read last week stayed in my mind and I decided to put parts of it here and a short view on it from me...I feel helpless because I can't do anything to help them..Or can I?

This blog entry refers to the article that appeared on Thursday,17th of April in The Star newspaper titled "Iraq's war on women" by Nafia Abdul Jabbar and Marwa Sabah.

The article is about how the life of women in Iraq is much much worse than they were during the rule of dictator Saddam Hussein. It is very disturbing for me,a fellow muslim who is living well here in Malaysia reading about how the women living in Iraq are demanding for just this--->
'the right to live'.

According to the article...
"...women are subjected to verbal abuse on the streets if they are not wearing a hijab and in and in extreme cases, face being abducted by unknown gunmen, who sexually abuse and then kill them."

In the southern city of Basra,in the northern Kurdish area and in the capital of Baghdad, there have been numerous cases of so-called "honour killings".

"A UN report said police in Basra registered 44 cases in 2007 where women were killed with multiple gunshot wounds after being accused of committing "honour crimes".In Baghdad, the report said, several women teachers have been shot dead by armed men, some of them in front of their students."

A report by the US-based Women for Women International released last month said the state of Iraqi women has become a "national crisis" since the March 2003 US-led invasion.
"Present day Iraq is plagued by insecurity,a lack of infrastructure and controversial leadership, transforming the situation for women from one of relative autonomy and security before the war into a national crisis,"said the report.

"When asked why, respondents most commonly said that there is less respect for women's rights than before, that women are thought of a posessions, and that the economy has gotten worse,"it said. The report also found that 76% of the women interviewed said that girls in their families were forbidden from attending school.

Suad Mohammed,an employee in Adhamiyah municipality in northwestern Baghdad, carries a pistol in her handbag to defend herself because of the very fact that it is not safe anymore for Iraqi women to even go out of their own house.

Islam doesn't promote violence and especially violence against women. What is happening with the people in the world?Oppression against women in an Islamic country??And not just that, but shooting them dead???Am I not crazy for being very, very afraid? This is just extreme..It's unbelievable and horrible.

The situation in Iraq is getting worse by the day and to think that Bush thought that the situation there will become better after Saddam is gone..(yeah he was trying to get the oil and used terrorist and Saddam as an excuse)And now?Look what has happened? How can you sleep well knowing that because of your decision, innocent women are being killed on the streets?

One bad decision can affects millions of others....I pray for the safety of the women in Iraq though I know that it will take a very long time for things to actually get better there. Please can anybody tell me what is the solution for this very disturbing situation?Does anybody know how we can help them in anyway???

What a fraud!!!!

I love reading other people's blog entry.I get great advice, words of wisdom, funny stories,not-so funny stories, ogle at other's fortune and many more.So last night(yes, this is a late blog entry, pardon me as I have been very busy lately),as I was relaxing while catching up on the cyberspace,I come upon a blog entry on a friend of a friend's blog.

It was about how Natasha Hudson's book of poetry(alah, yang name Pari-pari ape ntah tuu),consist of basically, poems that were written by other poets and she just translated them straight into Bahasa Melayu and claiming that she wrote it when she was a little girl.So I was intrigue by the speculation and started to search on Yahoo.I typed 'Natasha Hudson plagiarize poems'.And I clicked on the first blog that was listed on the list.

As I clicked on it,lo and behold,it was a sister of one of my senior's blog. What a small world...So I kept on reading about it and there was even a comment by Ms.Fraud(Natasha Hudson)herself stating that she did not plagiarize the poems and that it was a coincidence.Coincidence my ass!If you read her poems and the original poems it was basically a direct translation(to Tesl students mesti tau ini term!).Meaning that there's no fucking way that it was a coincidence because she translated it word for word. You think Malaysian's don't read poems ah?

Plagiarize is so wrong and it's even worse when you're making money out of it by turning it into a book!Something needs to be done...Bloggers,rejoice and blog about this.Hopefully some kind of legal action will be taken towards her. Here's some of her 'poems' and the original ones are under it...For more info about her whole fraud, read Jannah's blog entry at...

Did anyone notice it?

Was it last friday or saturday that Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohammad wrote an article and it was published on The Sun.It revealed a lot of things on the Terengganu MB position and other political matters as well.If I didn't look closely at who wrote that piece,I would not have guessed that it was Tun who penned it.Wanted to show the article to Izza(Mahathir's biggest supporter) but alast, the newspaper has been sent to the recycling center by mistake.Damn!Should have cut and keep it as it was very, very revealing without being revealing.Get it?Hah.Long live Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohammad!

The recent election results

The recent election results was a dissapointment.Never in so many years has BN suffered such a big and gargantuan loss. But like my father said,"Things has happened.Move on".A lot of things contributed to BN losses but most importantly,it is sign that people are tired with Malaysia being lead by a,dare I say, a weak leader.I miss the days when Dr.Mahathir reigns supreme. He was the best prime minister Malaysia has ever seen and had.But I am glad that atleast Mukhriz won.Somehow, maybe the legacy will continue.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see what the opposition will bring to the table. After all, with all their promises during campaigning to win, they have to make it a reality or otherwise, they will lose in the next election.Like what their banners and posters said that were everywhere in my beloved hometown,Shah Alam.Promises of lowering the price of oil(which is ridiculous since US controls the pricing, but whatever),lowering the price of goods(again, blasphemous, but whatever) and abolishing tol booths(wonder if this will actually happen...).I hope that the people have made the right choice because remember,we have to live with these people running our country for the next 4/5 years.I wish I could vote but yeah,I have to wait for another 4/5 years too.To BN buckle up and try to do a better job and learn from this monumental loss.
