Hey everyone!I just celebrated my 27th birthday on 25th of June and it was a really great day which I will blog about soon :) Here is my entry on Pick Nick which I went to a few weeks back...I understand that it's the fasting month but sorry guys..I'm sure you lot have more will power than that?haha I'm fasting too!

Taken from Foodbites
On Saturday,14th of June,I went to PickNick by Foodbites at Desa Park City.It was basically an event whereby there were many food stalls selling delicious food and we get to eat them while having a picnic at the beautiful park.
The park is so beautiful
I had a really great time with the boyfriend and my friend Aimi and her boyfriend as well.I was supposed to become a vendor for the event but I couldn't join in due to work+budget(going on a holiday soon!).So I came to support them and eat the delicious food. And boy was the food good!
The view of the site from our picnic blanket

It was clear that the organizer took their time to choose the best vendors and I swear that everything I ate there was so delicious.I heard this will be a monthly event so I can't wait to see maybe some new faces along with the old ones.
Fiq's!

Smooshie juice!
Their chicken wings are so yummy!
Popwagon yummy popsicles!

I love the details of the banner on top of all of the tents.Super cool that the organizers made banners for all of the vendors..so people can clearly see their names. Also, they provided picnic blankets all over the park.

Good times!
Some of the food that I tasted was from Fiq's Gastronomy,Frontera,Wings Cowboys and Popwagon!Bought some stuffs home too--Mango pudding from Homemade from Scratch,5 different juices from Smooshie and honeydew taufufa from a stall that I can't remember.
Pulled beef for Fiq's awesomeee sandwich
The pulled beef bbq sandwich from Fiq's was sooo yummy. The beef was tender and the marinate for the beef was so good.My friend Aimi bought a bbq beef sandwich from another stall and we compared both of them and clearly Fiq's was the winner.Because the other beef lacks flavour.

The scones from Fiq's was good as well.
Super yummy wings from Cowboys

Cowboys chicken wings was really good! The sauce for the chicken was sooo yummy. They sprinkled this great seasoning on top of the fries as well.
Crazy good duck taco with mango salsa from Frontera
I love duck and I love Frontera. They've really good tacos there. At Pick Nick they opened a stall and they served duck tacos(among the many other things). It was served with mango salsa and it was sooooo good!I don't know if it was a one time thing..but I hope this will be available on their menu permanently.

More pictures from the day....

Pretty fairy lights!
So pretty!
It was a lovely and chill way to spend a sunny Saturday.I would definitely go to the event if they have it every month.Good food and great ambience.Luckily our picnic spot was shady so we was burned by the sun..haha.There's a tiny mall next to the park which is within walking distance..so if you need to go to the toilet,it won't be an issue.

20th Century Fox Malaysia Advance Screening of..The Fault In Our Stars!!

Monday, June 23, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

If you've been following me on Twitter you'd have known that I was excited when I found out that The Fault In Our Stars will be in our cinemas in July and that I also found out that there'll be a premiere screening of the movie on 24th June(a day before my birthday!).Somehow the stars were aligned(hahaha a wee bit of pun for you!) and I actually got to watch an advance screening of the movie..thanks to 20th Century Fox Malaysia!

I was just so happy because...I've read the book by John Green months ago (which you can read my review HERE) and I've been listening to the soundtrack for weeks(almost everyday!).You can imagine how excited I was!

I got two tickets for the movie so I brought Raqeema, the boyf's sister who have read the book as well.We know that we will definitely cry when we watch the movie. And we did!Along with everyone in the cinema I think..

The atmosphere in the cinema was very lively because clearly everyone are huge fans of the book. There were teens who wore t-shirts of the book, and actually carried the book with them.It was suffice to say that because I'm turning 27 soon and Qeema is turning 25..both of us felt..quite old.hahaha.

It was great though when we watched the movie, the audience was excited over some of the scenes.During the sad parts,I could hear a girl sobbing! And the audience cheered and laughed together when certain scenes appeared on the screen.

I enjoyed the movie immensely! The chemistry between Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort is amazing. You 100% believe that they are Hazel and Augustus.I've to applaud Ansel for being a great actor..especially in one of the most heartbreaking scene involving him at a petrol station.I've watched all of the movies that he's been in because he's still new to the biz(Carrie & Divergent).

Also,it is a bit weird that Shailene and Ansel were siblings in Divergent and they're a couple in TFIOS.ahaha It was cool when I watched the movie and the songs that I've been listening to popped up among the scenes.
Augustus,Isaac and Hazel

One memorable one was when Kodaline's All I Want (such a beautiful song)played after Hazel,Augustus and Isaac throw eggs at Monica's car.Or that Swedish hip hop song that I couldn't understand when I heard it while I was driving, makes sense in the movie as it involved Peter Van Houten. That was a funny scene!

Boom Clap by Charli XCX played when they arrived in Amsterdam.Jake Bugg's Simple As This played when Hazel was waiting for Augustus to text her.All the songs made sense in the movie. But of course not all songs in the soundtrack was used in the movie.

If you're a fan of the book, you'll love the movie. You'll love it a lot!If you haven't read it,you will still love it as well. It's not your typical teenage love story.Hazel doesn't show a lot of skin,Augustus and her aren't that touchy feely of a couple. There's a just a lot of great conversations. It's a beautiful but sad love story as well.

A great night for them :)
My favorite scene was probably their dinner at Oranjee.I just love what Augustus said to Hazel.*sigh* The saddest for me(there was a lot of those scenes too..of course) was when Isaac & Hazel had to practice their eulogies. It was very very hard not to cry while you watch that scene!

There was a scene that was cut from the movie due to our censorship board. But I thought that was okay since that scene didn't actually affect the storyline of the movie at all.I would definitely want to watch the movie all over again.I can honestly say that I started feeling my eyes watered once Augustus revealed something major to Hazel right before they left Amsterdam.T_T

The movie, the songs, the cast, the chemistry, the dialogues..I love everything about it!I give this movie a perfect 5...might be a little bit biased though because I've read the book.Let me know what you guys thought of it.

I want to thank 20th Century Fox Malaysia again for making this girl very happy!

Below is the trailer for the movie :)

Kiehl's Fun In The Sun event with The Butterfly Project

Saturday, June 21, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Let's go!
In one of my previous post I mentioned that I wanted to attend Kiehl's Fun In The Sun event because of the reasons mentioned in it.And on 8th of June,I managed to do so!The event was held at One Utama's Secret Garden..and I never knew it existed!Probably because whenever I go to One Utama it's at night to watch a movie and have dinner with the boyfriend.
Beautiful garden!

The garden was so beautiful and well maintaned. There were ponds,so many trees,shrubs,flowers..there was even lotus in the pond and I actually saw a real purple lotus! It was so pretty.
Purple lotus
The weather was super hot though and I'm glad that I dressed appropriately in a light chiffon top.But it didn't stop the sweat from pouring down.haha I did however wore my Steve Madden heels which I shouldn't have because my feet was throbbing after the event(the shoes were comfy but standing in it for a few hours is not!) that I changed into my Ipanema flip flops after it ended to walk around the mall with the girls.
Mr Bones!
When I arrived at OU,the stores was still closed and there was no one around. That was actually pretty cool to me because the place is always packed with people. The lift to the Secret Garden only opens at 10am.I arrived earlier so I had to wait with another Butterfly blogger--Dr Zatil, for it to open.It was funny because we tried to find ways to go up since we couldn't press the lift button. We ended up meeting Tammy and Ayna from The Butterfly Project on the way up.
Ayna and Tammy in their cool Kiehl's coat!
Bloggers arriving
When we arrived, all the other Butterfly bloggers came too!We were greeted by the friendly Kiehl's team and we signed on Mr Bones..took lotsa pictures before we went to the area of the event which was situated at the end of the garden.
My signature top right!

As we got there,we could see the pretty display of food, the hanging colorful lanterns and display of Kiehl's latest product-- their Ultra Facial Oil-Free skincare line.
The food spread
Pretty display of the skincare products
Pretty lanterns!
We were given a skin consultation to determine the shine level of our complexion.Surprisingly I got a normal complexion..but I think that was because it's still early in the morning.
Taken from The Butterfly Project's page
My skin usually starts to become oily from afternoon to evening. The humidity and our crazy hot weather doesn't help my oily skin condition as well. When I go to places with a cooler climate,my skin actually becomes much better! But I believe that Kiehl's products will help this predicament of mine :)
Terrarium how to!

After the skin consultation,I learned how to make a terrarium with some of the Butterfly bloggers with Terrariums Malaysia. It was fun and an interesting thing to do!We got to take home the terrarium that we made!A terrarium basically consist of layers of dried moss, stones, dirt, topped with a cactus on top. They only need to be watered every 10 days. How low maintenance!
Preparing the layers

Our pretty terrariums!
Anfaal,Shasha,Shivani and I sat down to cool ourselves from the heat and admire our work.Afterwards we went to have a bite to eat and then took some more pictures with the other bloggers and organizers of the event. It was a simple and great event on a sunny Sunday morning.
Yummy bites!

Each one of the 30 bloggers was given a goodie bag by Kiehl's which contained the whole range of their Ultra Facial Oil-Free skincare line.So far I've been using the product for a few days and I swear that the moisturizer is one of the BEST that I've used so far.
The products given to all bloggers
It just feels really good on your skin. The texture is amazing and it absorbs really fast on your skin as well.Because you know..sometimes you have to wait for the moisturizer to sink in into your skin before you can put on your makeup..this one does the job fast!Plus it doesn't leave a sticky feeling on your skin and it doesn't sting or feels tight. It does a really good job.I can't wait to show you girls the difference that it has made on my skin in probably..3-4 weeks time?
Taken from HERE.

The main ingredient for Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free skincare is Imperata Cylindrica root.So I googled on what it is..basically it's a type of grass that grows in the desert.

The Imperata Cylindrica plant thrives in dry, excessively saline environments and is native to many of Earth’s deserts, but is especially prolific in the Australian Outback. Imperata Cylindrica’s roots contain high concentrations of potassium which provides an immediate and lasting hydrating effect. In our formulation, Imperata Cylindrica helps skin to store and retain moisture efficiently – even in the driest weather conditions. It is believed that indigenous Australians of centuries past used the desert plant as a substitute for salt, due to its high saline content. (Taken from HERE)

Hence why we had an activity to build a terrarium filled with a cactus because..how are you gonna decorate grass? They have the same resilient properties--cactus and grass,as both thrive in the desert.

There's also Antarcticine in the products (gel-cream & toner):

Antarcticine, sourced from Antarctica, is a glycoprotein* that has demonstrated many unique benefits when used in skincare formulas. With superb protection against dryness, Antarcticine helps hydrate skin and provides it with a noticeably smoother appearance while shielding skin from the damaging effects of free-radicals. It further helps to protect skin from extremely cold temperatures, facilitating skin’s retention of natural water reserves. (Taken from HERE)

Here are the full line of products under the Ultra Facial Oil-Free range. You can click on the name of the products to know more about it on Kiehl's website.

1)Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser(RM85)

2)Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner(RM85)

3)Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel-Cream(50ML-RM100,125ML-RM190)
I want to thank The Butterfly Project and Kiehl's for organising this great event!Hopefully there'll be more events involving Kiehl's as I believe that they're such a good brand for our skin.I will blog further about how the products have affected my skin in about a month or so :)
