TV shows that I can't wait for its season renewal

Wednesday, December 30, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

I’m sorry but I think Gossip Girl has sort of pale in comparison to other tv shows out there now. It’s sad but it’s the truth. Like a sort of old article on Popsugar which listed tv series that successfully made its transition from high school to college,at that time they were undecided over the fate of GG but now, after the first half of the 3rd season,I’ve to say, Gossip Girl sort of failed to do so.

The series didn’t show what college life is all about unlike what Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek, and even the old Beverly Hills 90210 successfully managed to do.Remember Rory’s awkward phase in adapting to college life in season 4 &5? Gossip Girls again and again focuses on the scandals and whatnot which in truth is boring me. The reason why I even watch the show at times now is just because of Chuck and Blair. If they break up,I’ll probably stop watching the tv show altogether.

Now on to the list of tv shows which I’m super excited to be renewed next year.

1.90210

This series really surprised me.I didn’t really like it or even wanted to watch it during its first season.Particularly because the character Annie is super annoying and painful to watch, not to mention very anorexic-looking (a plus for Gossip Girl girls for being healthy—Blake Lively & Leighton—duh!) which made them being scrutinized by the media in the States. Thus, their weight issues got more press than the show which did not sit well with me since it meant that it wasn’t that good.

BUT,the 2nd half of the 1st season got better. With the addition of characters like Teddy and Liam.Plus,my favourite character in the show has got to be Navid,Naomi & Adrianna—both girls has got to be the most gorgeous actresses on tv nowadays next to Sarah Walker(from CHUCK) & Blair Waldorf.I also loved the villainess who’s Jen,Naomi’s big sister.

The first episode of the 2nd season sold me with Navid’s showing off his Lamborghini and the 3 girls—Naomi,Ade & Silver colourful shades & outfits.Oooh,I have to say I’m currently in love with the fashion on 90210 more than in Gossip Girl because each of the girls has great individual style.Naomi is sexy and totally stylish.Silver is more rock/vintage while Ade is totally channelling old Hollywood & looks amazing everytime.

Annie was going into a downward spiral in season 2 which is really fun to watch..And really,Jasper???Like what the heck & she loses her virginity to him?EWWW..ahaha.At the end of the first half of the 2nd season,Naomi & Liam got back together which really excites me although I did like Jamie with Naomi as well.

Dixon used a dirty tactic to woo Silver back which angered me because duh---he broke up with HER and then manipulated his way back to her by backstabbing his own friend Teddy who has genuine feelings for her!argggh.Annie is in big trouble with Jasper—like we didn’t see that coming?

I wonder if Navid & Ade will get back together?I really like them together! Can’t wait for the 2nd part of the 2nd season!

Some of my fave Naomi quotes among many:

Season 2 episode 7:
Naomi: I can't be distracted by rock-hard abs and thighs that have driven countries to war.
Adrianna: What country has ever been driven to war over thighs?

Season 2 episode 11:
Naomi: Did you see that shirt Ivy is wearing? I wouldn't use that shirt as a rag to scrub my own bathtub.

2.CHUCK

Ah Chuck...I remembered watching the 1st season and remembered how ‘green’ he was with the whole CIA thing. In 2nd season things got waaay better.Jeffster antics made me laugh so many times during the whole 2nd season.Emmet also brought some dysfunctional color into the show.

One of my favourite episode was when Chuck & Sarah played house in the suburbs, when she made him breakfast & the line that she said to him made me go awwww.I so want to do that to my boyfriend too..hehe.The whole FULCRUM & Orion thing was really awesome as was Mr.Awesome—isn’t he THE perfect fiancé/boyfriend/husband ever?

There were many celebs guest starring in the 2nd season, proving it’s popularity like Nicole Richie and Jordana Brewster. The brief appearance of Agent Cole in a few episodes spiced things up too.And I could not believe how totally similar Chuck & his dad looked & that they could find an actor who looked exactly like his own father in real life could be.

I have got to admit that although he appeared only once or twice & that he died in the finale(sorry for the spoiler!!!),I think Bryce Larkin is mighty FINE...Ooooh he is super HOT!The end of the finale was AWESOME(I’m totally being influenced by how many times the word awesome is used in Chuck) since Chuck got some new moves--kungfu!!Can’t wait what more of his newfound intersect talents will bring in the 3rd season.

All I can say is that Chuck is getting better and better.I hope that Morgan won’t totally go away(he’s going to Hawaii with Anna to become a benihana chef) next season since he’s very funny and I hope Jeffster will still be there too!But then again,Chuck doesn’t work at Buy More anymore so...sigh..Waiting for the 3rd season is pure torture!

3. GLEE

Ah, the show that totally surprised me. Since I blogged about it a few weeks ago,I’ll make it short for this one.

I can’t wait what songs the cast will sing for the 2nd half of the 1st season. What Sue will do to Will when she gets back from being suspended? What will happen between Will & Emma? What will happen to Finn? Will Rachel stop being annoying? Will somebody stop Quinn from singing solo cos’ I don’t like her voice at all!?!Only time will tell!

4. GREY’S ANATOMY
I’ve also blog quite lengthy about this series a few weeks ago so I’ll refrain from saying much here. All I hope is that Izzy won’t leave the show & that although I know this is mean,I hope something happens between Christina & Avery because he is HOT!!!Sorry Owen!

Half-a-day at the Syariah Court

Tuesday, December 29, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Last Thursday morning I woke up super early thanks to my mum who woke me up at 5.50 am!It’s because me & my mum had to go to Bandar Baru Bangi to my aunt & cousin’s house. I spent half a day at the Syariah Court with my mum,my aunts & my cousins because we were there to support my aunt and her divorce proceeding .

Before my aunt’s case, there were around 4 other cases and it was very shocking because their dirty laundry is being told to others in the court to hear. One of them made me sick to my stomach because the husband with such an innocent looking face, texted to his wife that he wanted a divorce but he claims that he was too drunk with his friends to realize what he texted her.Yes, a husband who drinks & he’s a Muslim.hurmph.

Oh,funny thing is,the judge pointed out that how could he texted a clear and concise sentence and claimed that he didn’t realize what he was doing or in his own words, ‘tidak sedar’.A bunch of BS!

There was one case whereby one of my cousins wanted to whack the head of the husband because he didn’t now know why he came to court & couldn’t answer the questions from the judge. So the judge asked him to leave the court and come back when he has figured out why he came with his ex-wife in the first place.Turns out afterward after the dude managed to get his bearings or maybe drank a cup of coffee to wake him up,they were there to get back together or in Malay term ‘rujuk’.

To cut it short,my aunt was represented by a lawyer from my uncle’s law firm in KL. He has 2 law firms,1 in KL & 1 in Kuah,Langkawi. The lawyer’s name can’t be put here but he is very handsome & a prominent Syariah lawyer. The case went well.Lawyers from both parties defended their clients and I’ve to say my aunt’s lawyer is waay better than the other one.hahaah.

Although the family came very early but had to wait until about 11 something and I realized that I just spend half a day at the Syariah Court of all places.haha.

Making Meatballs

Tuesday, December 29, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I have tried 2 meatballs recipe and both yield great results. Recently I wanted to make Jamie Oliver’s version of meatballs from the Ministry of Food podcast. The podcast can be downloaded via iTunes.

The video of Jamie was peppered with a cheeky bit TWICE, when Jamie was saying about the different shape of balls and his eyes twinkled and we all know what it means!lol.
Anyway,I wanted to try the recipe because the ingredients used are ingredients that I have never used while making meatballs like mustard and Jacob’s cream crackers(which works brilliantly as I found out!).

The recipe is so easy and I tweaked it a bit by adding a clove of garlic,1 teaspoon extra of mustard,a pinch of salt and sugar.

Below is the recipe because as Jamie said at the end of the video, ‘don’t forget to pass it on’!

Mince meat
1 tablespoon of dry oregano
1 teaspoon of Yellow Mustard
1 egg
6-9 Jacob’s cream crackers, bash it up into crumbs.
A handful of fresh rosemary

Mix them all together, shaped into same size and fry until golden brown!Serve with spaghetti & tomato sauce/bolognaise.

Of a LBD & books & more Looklets

Saturday, December 19, 2009 Liyana Hanim 10 Comments

No time to write much words since this is my dad's pc--this house of my parents although there's Streamyx, there's no router=no wifi for my pinkerton(that's what I named my pink Vaio..hehe).Thus,the pc is always being occupied by my brothers since it's the sem break & school hols & they download lotsa movies=slow internet connection for me.haih.

Anyway, below are the pics of books that I bought at a recent warehouse sale that I went with my parents & my 3 lil' cousins.I've finished reading the orange one titled Slightly Single which is a very empowering story in my opinion.Because the main character,Tracey showed me that you can stand on your own two feet without having a man by your side.

The number of books that I have is amounting to 200 & I have no idea where I'm going to put the 100+ books that I lend to Ethos Society after I graduate since my empty bookshelf is filled to the brim already after 1 year.I feel so 'sayang' to sell them as each & everyone of them has sentimental value.Seriously.Everytime I buy a book,I'll write down the date thus I'll remember where I bought it & when & the story behind the purchase.Ooh,I found the book Beaches II,a sequel to the dvd of the movie that I have, starring Bette Midler. Can't wait to read on how Cee Cee's life ends up...Remember the vintage LBD's that I bought last week with my mum?Below is the picture of one of em'.Isn't it pretty & classy & something that Blair would totally wear??hahaha. And it's such a steal like you wouldn't believe it!!

I heard that list of schools for practicum will be out on Monday--god I'm so effing nervous!Oh,my final results are waaaay better than last semester & the semester before in fact..hehe.NO MORE FINALS FOR ME!!It's official!!!Only practicum & AE left to go before I graduate with a B.Ed in TESL...yikes!

More Looklet sets that I created recently...

*****PLEASE SUPPORT the re-staging of WHOA! WILLOW!! the musical in benefit of Tasputra Perkim.Tickets for the show can be purchase through Ticket Axcess & details about it can be found HERE or search for us on Facebook!!

Looklet!

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Liyana Hanim 3 Comments

Currently i'm at my friends house,I can't blog about my recent warehouse sale book purchases since most of them, excluding 3,are at my parents house.I bought 3 amazingly beautiful vintage LBD's with my mum last Saturday & maybe I'll take pics of me wearing em' when I go back home.hehe.

Anyhoo,I stumble upon this website today & can't stop playing around with it.I guess Scrabble Worldwide has a website that's competing for my attention over it.haha.Below are some of the looks that I've created today. The web is great but I guess because it's still new, there's not so many things to use unlike Polyvore. But I like the fact that 'models' can wear the clothes that we've chosen.
The first look is actually what I wore out today.Everything is the same except that my studded flats are in black but the web has no black studded flats.

Monday, December 14, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

How can you not love Taylor Lautner pray tell???Good God!!Even Taylor Swift who's 3 years older than him doesn't mind dating him..and neither would I,who's 22.ahahaha.He was on SNL last week & he was awesome!!!!Atleast in my opinion.;)And no,I haven't watched New Moon yet,but I've read the book long ago & I'll probably just buy the ori dvd just for the sake of watching Taylor Lautner himself..hehehe.

*As diehards Taylor fans may know out there,he is a martial artist that has won awards for it(I don't remember what it was..thus his monologue of course showed off his AMAZING skills.I love he insert about Taylor Swift like she did during her SNL monologue--I hope they end up together for good!!!:)))

*Below,Taylor plays Mariana, who's in Team Edward..My fave line "I wanna bake cookies on your stomach","His abs are fake--it's all CGI like the werewolves","The dude who plays Jacob deserve an Oscar!"..ROFL!!!!!!!!

Hooked on GLEE & girly sleepover

Saturday, December 12, 2009 Liyana Hanim 4 Comments

I haven't blog in quite sometime..Been busy going back & forth to Tasputra,Whoa Willow stuff & haven't slept for more than 5 hours(that's the max--most of the time just 3 or 4 hours) yet although I'm back at my parents house since Thursday night.Yesterday morn went to Tasputra again with 4 other friends, got back in time to prepare for the sleepover with my teenage cousins. They've been asking me to teach em' how to cook & they want to have a sleepover but I've been busy that I couldn't set a date for it.

Last night 3 of them came--Ika & Wani are siblings & Nana who is the only girl in her family(like moi')came too.We baked choh chip cookies & made creme caramel last night.Today I made spaghetti bolognaise for lunch.Probably going to a book warehouse sale this evening--hopefully.I'm hoping to find books to give to others rather buy lots for myself since I have many books that I bought but haven't read yet.

Anyway, thanks to a post by my friend Jessica HERE,I decided to give GLEE a chance.Although my other friends like Moja,Acad & Tajul have been watching it & promoting to others,I thought that the idea of a musical tv series just doesn't appeal to me.Probably because I have watched Brittania High & Jonas & when they suddenly burst out singing it was just so bloody annoying.BUT because of Jess rave reviews & because I wanted to see who the heck Sue Sylverter is,I decided to watch GLEE & thanks to Nad who have the episodes.

After giving GLEE a chance, I have to say I love it!I just can't believe how brilliant their singing voices are!I was a wee bit disappointed about Sue Sylvester because in my head I thought that she was like Sharpay in HSM but turns out she's a cheerleader coach! But she's still quite the bitch..haha.I find Rachel super annoying though.Quinn & Will's wife are just evil.I mean both of them are lying to the ones that they love.Like HUGE lies!!What's up with that?I have a bit of a crush on Puck.hehe.Can't wait to see what the upcoming episodes will bring. My fave rendition was when they sang one of Kanye's song. That was awesome & fun!And duh, when Puck sang Caroline..sigh...Aite,gtg & get back to the family.Buhbye!!

Paranormal Activity,American Idiot musical & 2 Taylors

Tuesday, December 08, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

The first time I heard about this movie was through an article that was featured in The Star newspaper over a month ago.The article stated that after Steven Spielberg had watched the movie, his bedroom door locked him inside and he was so scared that he put the dvd of the movie in a garbage bag.So tonight, after hearing reviews about it,watched the scary trailer and heard the various reaction of the people who watched it,I finally got to see the movie along with my 3 other friends. It was super scary. The movie was made on a shoestring budget--US$15000 & now,it has reaped over 100 mil!Very impressive.I cursed a lot while watching the movie and me & my friends was clutching pillows over our faces during the night scenes.hahaha.

I think the brilliance of the movie is over the fact of 'something' that we can't see.It plays tricks in our mind. After the movie ended,we watched the 2009(cinema) ending because the one that we watched was the 2007 version.I have to say I like the original ending better and there's a 3rd ending that said Katie slit her throat in front of the camera but it was only shown to viewers in one cinema, which I've no idea where.I think it was a very good scare movie without having to show any ghost or zombies whatsoever. It's been a long time since I watched a movie that's able to scare me.I actually want to watch the movie all over again but maybe I'll watch it with my brothers & parents..Wonder what their reaction will be??hehehe

Oh,did you guys heard about Green Day's musical titled American Idiot?I listened to their musical version of 21 Guns and was blown away.I loved it.Below are the trailer of the musical that has been getting rave reviews.Oh how I wish I could watch it but I'm thousand of miles away.sigh.The reviews of the musical has been excellent.

I just can't stop listening to the musical version of 21 Guns.Utterly beautiful.

I just love the fact that Taylor Swift is with Taylor Lautner.Love it!Both of them look so good together and she deserve waaay better after the whole Joe Jonas episode. But yeah,if they get married, she'd be Taylor Lautner too..hahaha.Below is a video that Evan Taubenfeld sang about her..I'm so jealous! How many girls would kill to be in her shoes?I know I would--hello,she get's to date, hug & kiss Taylor & ride in his Porsche Turbo!!woooweeeee...hahaha.

Natrah & Whoa Willow promo vid

Monday, December 07, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Phew..I haven't blog in awhile because been busy with life and whatnot..ahaha.Last week I went to Istana Budaya along with 3 of my aunts and 4 cousins of mine and Izza too,to watch Natrah. It was very sad and a little bit scary(because of the huge statue of Jesus & church scene).I was a little bit annoyed with the Bollywood-ish dance/singing scenes.I thought Maya Karin did a very good job in portraying the character Natrah considering that it was her first time on stage and of course Sofia Jane did a wonderful job as well as Umie Aida who played Natrah's Malay mum,Aminah.

The hearthrob award goes to who else but Remy Ishak whom I think is very manly..haha.God,we need more manly Malay men around & not scrawny ones..lolss.Sad to hear that he got beat up by some guys during Saturday night after the show in his own dressing room..What's up with that??? Anyway, the message that Eirma Fatima wanted to convey through the theater was that there's a lot of 'Natrah's' out there who may be lost but are neglected by us.Watching the amok scene in Singapore when Natrah was taken to Holland was very chilling.I hope it won't happen to our country.

Anyhoo, below are one of the best promotion video from Whoa Willow which stars one of the cast,Acap. It's very funny & I would like to share the vid with you guys. Please come & watch the show next month!!Tickets can be purchase online through Ticket Axcess.

Iron Chef America, more cooking & pigging out day

Tuesday, December 01, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

When I was a kid or was it during my teen years,my family and I loved watching Iron Chef. You know, the Japanese show whereby chefs come to battle with one of the 4 iron chefs and they have to cook a few dishes that has to use the secret ingredient. But America has adapted this show and made it into their own and I have been hooked on it ever since.I have about 17 battles in my laptop that I have downloaded and some of my favourite battles were the ones that used puff pastry, pizza dough,hamburger,all-star holiday dessert, parmigiano reggiano, milk & cream, potatoes, cranberries and chocolate & coconut.

The 4 iron chefs in Iron Chef America are(although initially when it started there was only 3 iron chef, all male) Mario Batali,Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto and Cat Cora.I love the 2 people who gives us updates during the cooking process which are Kevin Brauch and Alton Brown. My favourite judge is Ted Allen although the judges change in each episode.

You learn a lot about food in each episode because Alton Brown is just so smart and everytime a chef mentions a cooking method or unique ingredients they are using, he can actually explain it to us what it is in quite a few words.

The different secret ingredient in each battle makes watching each episode so much fun and mouth watering because you get to see the chef coming up with innovative dishes using sometime weird secret ingredients like pizza dough and hamburger. One chef even made ice cream using meat! And who would have thought chocolate pasta existed as shown in the Chocolate & Coconut battle. The All-Star Holiday Dessert battle was the best yet because Paula Deen & Robert Irvine(from the great show Dinner Impossible which my parents love to watch) was in it.

The battle that made me actually wanted to eat everything was the onion battle.I am going to do the blooming onion soon!hehe.

Oh,the pineapple tarts actually tasted way better when you shaped it this way instead of the one that I did before.Because I tried a bunch of shapes and my parents prefer the one below.

I made mee rebus on Sunday. The recipe is past down from generations to generations. My grandma is famous for it among our relatives.I’m glad I can cook it as good as she does.hehe.

InStyle December is out & I bought it!Taylor Swift is on the cover & Taylor Lautner is in it too!!woohooo

Went to watch Karaoke today with Izza,Ella & Moja. The movie is it a bit hard to fathom at times but I guess one has to really focus while watching it??Anyway, ate way too much with them today.Lunch I ate bbq chicken wantan noodles. Then went to Zen for dessert which was creme brulee with a pot of English Breakfast.Dinner was at Strawberry Fields & I ate the sweet n' sour fish rice...*BURP*...Spend a lot on food today.. Now I'm watching 500 days of summer again, with Izza because I want her insights on it!!

Cooking/Baking & Shopping!

Saturday, November 28, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all my Muslim readers & friends!

As you probably know,I love to cook/bake and eat. Thus,I’ll never be Kate Moss thin.ahaha.Although I love to cook/bake,I haven’t had the time to do much of it lately, especially this semester. But recently,I made a few things that I thought it’d be great to share with you guys here.

Below are the picture of a sort-of a rocky road brownies recipe that I tried. It wasn’t a great recipe because what came out, although I measure everything right and etc,it was a little bit dry.I think I’ll go with Martha Stewart’s recipe the next time because hers never fails!

I cook pasta a few times in a month because my brothers love em’.And it is really easy to make & is not expensive at all.I think the priciest ingredient would be the spices or like lucky old me,if you have parents who loves to garden, fresh basil/rosemary/oregano awaits you to pluck them for free!hehehe.I found a way to make the bolognaise sauce easier & saves time because let’s face it,time is of the ESSENCE after all..:)..

What I do is I cut the tomatoes(about 9 or 10 medium size ones) into quarters, rip a bunch of fresh basil leaves(dry ones will do too, about 1 big tablespoon),a few cloves of garlic,a pinch of salt & some sugar & BLEND them ALL together in the food processor/blender.Instead of tediously blanching the tomatoes in hot water, peeling the skins & chopping them into cubes which takes time!

Below are the pictures of my attempt in baking pineapple tarts for the first time.My parents, avid pineapple tarts fan, loved them!Yeay!!!The recipe was a success that my aunt who came for lunch during Raya Haji, took home 1 whole ‘balang’.hehe.

Ooh,a day before Raya Haji me & my siblings & mum, went out to shop and I manage to buy 2 bags that I love. It's hard for me to find a replacement for this bag
that was stolen a week before Raya from me,with all the contents in the inside too which cost me a lot of money!!!haih..Moving on..I bought 2 bags below. Both bags got my mum fashion approval & she paid for them..Thanks mama!!Both were very reasonably price & got a discount for one of em' which is always a plus!

I love Moxx!I always wear this Paris t-shirt that I bought from them months ago & funnily,I saw a shop selling an imitation version of it because the drawings are in a different & gaudy color & there's no drawings in the back, like the original one.A t-shirt at Moxx is about rm59.90.I'm so glad that I can throw away the old bag of mine that I have been using & it's torn in places & is so uglyyy..hahaha.I've been using one of the bags while the other gorgeous black leather & vintage looking one is still in the plastic wrap & paperbag because it's just too precious & I'll use it after I 'break in' the other one.

Movie Review 2:500 days of summer

Saturday, November 28, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

We have been fed with endless romantic comedy movies or as they call it,romcom, for so long. Movies that ends with a happy ending. Boy meets girl, they go through some trouble but ultimately, they end up happily ever after. But 500 days of summer is not that kind of movie. I love the fact that the movie shows the gritty side of love. The painful side of it that is rarely shown in a movie. I have to admit that I have been in Tom’s situation and Summer’s situation too. Everyone in the world has probably been in the shoes of one or the other main characters.

The moment the disclaimer was shown at the start of the movie, the one that said Jenny Beckman is a bitch, I know this was going to be a good movie. I don’t know if this part was shown in theatres in Malaysia because I watched the movie courtesy of my brother who downloaded it. And then the song Us by Regina Spektor, one of my favourite singer ever, was used at the start of the movie and I was sold.haha.

The movie just reminded me that fact that you can treat the one that you love/like as nice as you can,do all the right things but if things aren’t meant to be,it just won’t.But it might take a while for us to realize it because we’ll be fixating on the fact that what did we do wrong that, that person changed their mind, like what Tom was so broken over, over what Summer did to him.It was not his fault.Like Summer said to him,she can’t promise that her feelings will not change.

I have been there when you replay all the great things that the person did in your heart and it only makes it worse .Because like what Tom’s lil sis said, maybe he didn’t see the bad things that Summer did because he just ‘remembered the good stuff’.Because we want to believe in the good of that said person and that we weren’t wrong in falling for them in the first place.I can talk on and on about this movie but I do not want to ruin it for others who have yet to watched it.It’s a great movie and everyone should watch it.

Movie Review 1:Papadom

Saturday, November 28, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Due to the fact that this semester was pretty hectic for me and because my schedule clash a lot with my friends—when they’re not busy,I am but when I am busy, they’re not—thus,I didn’t get to watch 2 movies that I wanted to watch this semester. They were 500 Days of Summer & Papadom.I blogged about the official trailer of the former, months ago.

Thanks to my brother Haziq, who have amassed a LOT of movies in his hard disk since he bought it this semester,I was able to watch both movie in crystal clear quality. The first one that I watched was Papadom and because of the hype of the movie from various people,I sort of had this expectation of it which I shouldn’t have because truthfully, when I watched it,I was a wee bit disappointed. It was not a great or amazing movie. It was just good or okay-lah.

There were some hilarious parts that involved Farid Kamil and Que Haidar which I never thought they could do because I guess I don’t watch tv that much so I haven’t seen both of them playing any comedic roles.I saw some of my friends as extras in the movie like Akim & Freaky..And I remember that during part 4 of degree(I’m part 8 now),my friend Akim offered me to join as extras for the movie but I decline because me + being in a film just doesn’t seem like a good idea.Funnily, both Akim & Freaky was in the same scene.ahaha.

I thought Afdlin played his role very well and he looked very cute like a teddy bear.haha.I love the Miasara song because the lyric was kooky.Liyana Jasmay to me,hurm,I don’t know why she won the best actress award for that movie because it wasn’t a particularly challenging role like Charlize Theron in Monster which she won an Oscar for.She played a teenage girl in a uni for god’s sake who have a happy life thus,it wasn’t hard since she’s being herself & many other young girls out there. But this is my opinion. If you disagree,it’s okay because everyone is entitled to have an opinion.

Khairiah who plays Mun/Ghost did a great job eventhough technically she’s just a hallucination in Saadom’s head. She did a great job and I’m still waiting for the day where she would get an award for her acting because she has played some tough roles throughout her career but she hasn’t been recognized.

Semua nangis tengok Taubat Nasuha

Saturday, November 28, 2009 Liyana Hanim 5 Comments

Aku seorang yang jarang2 nangis bila tengok filem atau drama. Tapi malam Raya Haji baru2 ni,satu family dok tengok Taubat Nasuha kat tv3.Amboi watak ayah dia yang sapa nama tuh, teruk giler!Ada ke teleng2 kepala anak tak tentu pasal.Ayah aku yang panas baran pun takdelah 24 jam nak menjerit2 jer and tonyoh2 kepala anak & campak2 dieorang.

Kali ke-2 si isteri telefon, sebab pencuri suruh tanya kat mana barang2 kemas dia letak,si suami angkat telefon,& dah ko dengar isteri ko menangis2 kat talian tuh, yang ko hang up the phone apehal?Memang bangang!

Jadi,si anak ke-2 pun melurulah nak selamatkan ibu dia selepas gigit tangan pencuri, tapi,si pencuri kejar die & tercucuk pisau betul2 kat perut anak tuh.Pastuh pencuri yang lagi satu stab anak sulung pulak.Last sekali ibu & anak bongsu.

Bila part anak ke-2 yang chomel & tembam tuh kena stab, air mata aku dah jatuh berbaldi2 dah.Aku tak bolehlah sebab mereka macam adik2 aku sendiri sebab mereka pun suka bising2 dan gaduh2.Jadi sangat sedih sebab mereka adik beradik sangat rapat & kena bunuh disaat nak tolong ibu meraka walhal ayah mereka bersuka ria dengan pompuan lain.Adik bongsu aku,Raffiq yang tengok pon nangis, mama yang tengok pon nangis.

Takutkan?Berhati2lah kawan2.huhu.Dan luang2kanlah masa bersama keluarga.

After a few years of being MIA on stage,Jit Murad is back & it was a memorable night.Although there were some boring parts but please be reminded that this time around there won't be as much jokes as Full Of Jit had.Rather, the night was about Jit talking about his childhood, peppered with jabs towards some politicians & towards what else, the concept of 1 Malaysia, and the best part of all---RENEE CHOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOHOOOOO
She steals the show man!!!hahaha
So everyone,do go & watch as the show will end on Sunday..It's a PJ Live Arts!

1 Load of BullJit & Karaoke

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

ATTENTION:
PEOPLE,GO & WATCH KARAOKE AT GSC MID VALLEY!!I am one of the many fans of Zahiril Adzim because he's a brilliant actor, articulate blogger and cute to boot..ehehe.Read his entry about it HERE.I'm going to watch the movie with my friends right after Raya Haji so go & watch & support local movies!:)))

I’m soooo excited over the fact that Jit Murad is back on stage! The last time I saw his standup show (Full of Jit) was almost 4 years ago and that was in Actors Studio Bangsar, which doesn’t exist anymore. So it has been a long time coming!!My friends and I laugh out loud so bad during Full Of Jit that Jit Murad notice and came up to us during his show which made us laugh even harder.Heard that Rene Choi (his many impersonation) will make a comeback...wooohooo!

So people, come one and all to watch the brilliant Jit Murad & I had a hella of a good time the last time I saw his show. The proceed from the show will benefit a charity which I forgot it’s name.Price for student is only rm38,which to me is very reasonable considering the fact that Jit doesn’t do his show annually. Bring your student card to PJ Live Arts Box Office counter or buy it at Ticket Charge office in Mid Valley. The link for the details of the show is HERE.

Last Wednesday,I went to Sunway College along with Izza & Moja for the launch of Amir Muhammad's book titled Yasmin Ahmad's Films because Moja's comment on one of the films was in the book.He got the book for free too!!hish..Read Izza's review of the book HERE for details.

Raya Haji or Qurban will be on the 27th and I will be busy helping my mum cook the dishes on Thursday.I want to make pineapple tarts this time because me & my mum will always search for the best one and a lot of them just disappoint us so I thought why not I bake them myself?I’ll put up the recipe and how I made them soon on this blog.

New list of literary texts

Monday, November 23, 2009 Liyana Hanim 5 Comments

Ironically, I was going to do my AE on The Appropriateness of the current literary texts. Because to me, it hasn’t been changed in so many years and a lot of it is not relevant anymore. Suddenly, I found out that next year, a whole new list of literary texts will be used in schools across Malaysia and I have to say all of them looks promising and gives me quite a number of possibility to create exciting lessons for my students next semester, when I do my practicum.

I am a bit jealous over the fact that they have drama now. It would be so much fun for the students because they get to act it out with their classmates and I have to say, the 2 times that I had to act on stage for my course was definitely fun. Thus, I am sure it would be a great experience for the students, especially those in rural areas to branch out and try acting in English for a change. Below is the list of new literary texts for secondary school students across Malaysia. The list of novels however, has yet to be confirmed.

Form 1-3

Poems

I wonder by Jeannie Kirby
The River by Valerie Bloom
Mr.Nobody--yes this is an anonymous poem. How cool is that??
Heir Conditioning by M.Shanmughalingan
A fighter’s lines by Marzuki Ali
Leisure by William Henri Davies

Short Stories

Flipping Fantastic by Jane Langford
One is one and All Alone by Nicholas Fisk

Drama

Rumplestiltskin

Form 4 & 5

Poems
In the midst of hardship by Latiff Mohidin
He had such quiet eyes by Bibsy Soenharjo
Nature by H.D Carberry
Are you still playing your flute by Zurinah Hassan

Short Stories

QWERTYUIOP by Vivien Alcock
The Fruitcake Special by Frank Brenman

Drama

Gulp and Gasp by John Townsend

That Feeling

Monday, November 23, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I have family and friends who love me.Although I have to admit sometime being single does suck. You can’t drag your friends to each event that you want to go to. They have their own lives too. You can’t tell them everything about you because they have problems too. Sometimes I think it’s nice to have a guy who wants to take care of you for a change. It’s nice to be able to rely on someone for once.

Sometimes when I see my friends who are in love and there’s a lot of them around me,you can’t help but wonder what does it feel like? What does it feel like to truly miss someone that your heart hurts? What does it feel like being able have someone who is there at the end of the day, standing there with a big hug when everything isn’t right and just with that hug, makes everything alright? Yeah, I am actually a closet romantic. I haven’t had a chance to ‘come out’ yet..:P

I am not an impenetrable rock. Although some of my friends said that I tend to jump from one guy to another. One even said that she can’t keep track of whom I am dating because there’s been quite a few. Which in my defense, it’s like 4 guys in 1 year, 5 tops. Hey, I’m only 22!

But trust me, if I go out with you, it means I actually like you enough to go out with you. But if a second date doesn’t happen or I stop texting you, it means that we don’t click enough for me to want to take it any further.

I don’t flirt with every Tom, Dick and Harry. When I fall for someone, it’s hard for me to fall out of it. I have to say that out of the many, there has been only 3 guys that were able to make me truly fall for them .2 of them are faraway from me in the sense that they don’t live in Klang Valley and one is actually thousands of miles away from Malaysia. The other one I am still friends with.

The first one was amazing but I was too young to fully understand what we had or appreciate him. The second one has great chemistry with me and I loved him and he knows it. But the miles apart affected the feelings that I had and he became too horny for my liking and he made me feel objectified. The last one was very complicated and we both made mistakes, but I still have feelings for him, I won’t lie.:)

There, I am not on some kind of celibacy since there were many almosts. The thing is, I prefer to date around rather than be in a relationship that makes me miserable, feels trapped or won’t go anywhere. When I do settle down with a guy and commit to him, it would be for the long run and I will be the best girlfriend to him ever..cehwah. hahaha.

Love these songs

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Currently I have been listening to these songs on repeat, over and over again.I just love the lyrics of all of the songs.

Let's Just Fall In Love Again by Jason Castro

This song never fails to put a smile on my face. It's so upbeat and cheeky and sunny.Plus Jason is such a hottie!:)

Lets pretend baby
That you've just met me
And I've never seen you before
I'll tell all my friends
That I think youre starin'
And you say the same to yours

And oh, well dance around it all night
And then I'll follow you outside
And try to open up my mouth
And nothing comes out right

And I wanna fall in love with you again
I don't have to try
It's so easy
Who needs to pretend?
But because its so funny
Lets just think about it, honey
Lets just fall in love again

I'll call you in three days
Not too soon, not too late
And I'll ask your roommate if you're home
You call me on Thursday
And well hang out all day
Then fall asleep on the phone

And oh, I'll hold your hand when we drive
And we'll lose track of all the time
And wel'l tell everyone
That we ain't never felt so alive

And I wanna fall in love with you again
I don't have to try
It's so easy
Who needs to pretend?
But because its so funny
Let's just think about it, honey
Let's just fall in love again
We'll fall disgustingly fast
And we'll stop hangin out with friends
And they'll be so offended

And I wanna fall in love with you again
I don't have to try
It's so easy
Who needs to pretend?
But because its so funny
Lets just think about it, honey
Lets just fall in love again
Lets just fall in love again

Untouchable by Taylor Swift

I don't know how many times I have listen to this song ever since the platinum edition of Fearless album came out.I feel that I can identify with the lyrics because I've been there..Wanting someone that you can't have..:(

Untouchable like a distant diamond sky
I’m reaching out and I just can’t tell you why

I’m caught up in you
I’m caught up in you

Untouchable
Burning brighter than the sun
And when you’re close I feel like coming undone

In the middle of the night
When I’m in this dream
It’s like a million little stars
Spelling out your name
You gotta come on, come on
Say that we’ll be together
Come on, come on
Little taste of heaven

It’s half full and I won’t wait here all day
I know you’re saying that you’ll be here anyway

But you’re untouchable
Burning brighter than the sun
Now that you’re close I feel like coming undone

In the middle of the night
When I’m in this dream
It’s like a million little stars
Spelling out your name
You gotta come on, come on
Say that we’ll be together
Come on, come on
Oh

In the middle of the night
We could form this dream
I wanna feel you by my side
Standing next to me
You gotta come on, come on
Say that we’ll be together
Come on, come on
Little taste of heaven

Oh, oh
I’m caught up in you
Oh, oh, oh

Untouchable
Burning brighter than the sun
And when you’re close I feel like coming undone

In the middle of the night
When I’m in this dream
It’s like a million little stars
Spelling out your name
You gotta come on, come on
Say that we’ll be together
Come on, come on
Little taste of heaven

Come Home by One Republic feat.Sara Bareilles

But the video below is not the one where One Republic duet with Sara Bareilles.I just love the lyric..it made me very sad and contemplative.

[Verse 1]
Hello world
Hope you're listening
Forgive me if I’m young
For speaking out of turn
There’s someone I’ve been missing
I think that they could be
The better half of me
They’re in their own place trying to make it right
But I’m tired of justifying
So i say you’ll..

[Chorus]
Come home
Come home
Cause I’ve been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I’ve ever known
So come home
Oooh

[Verse 2]
I get lost in the beauty
Of everything i see
The world ain’t as half as bad
As they paint it to be
If all the sons
If all the daughters
Stopped to take it in
Well hopefully the hate subsides and the love can begin
It might start now..Yeahh
Well maybe I’m just dreaming out loud
Until then

[Chorus]
Come home
Come home
Cause I’ve been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I’ve ever known
Ever known
So come home
Oooh

[Interlude]
Everything i can’t be
Is everything you should be
And that’s why i need you here
Everything i can’t be
Is everything you should be
And that’s why i need you here
So hear this now

[Chorus]
Come home
Come home
Cause I’ve been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I’ve ever known
Ever known
So come home
Come home

Grey's is back!

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Liyana Hanim 4 Comments

Below are some pictures from the AAR concert by Digi a few weeks ago...*All pics courtesy of Ella's cam.

Ooh,about the title of this post..I WAS a huge fan of Grey's 2 years ago and I have all 3 seasons on dvd--all when Burke was in it..when Burke left,I sort of left too..Because I love watching the dynamic between Burke & Christina that I will quote their lines..hahaha.Thus,I sort of skipped the 4th season and a lot of the 5th season too..

But the finale from the 5th season blew me over!It was a great finale that had me hanging on for more and I have to say Grey's Anatomy is back with a big bang with the 6th season.A lot of new faces and I am so glad that Christina might get a new dude in the form of the dishy Avery /Jesse Williams(whom I had a crush on since he starred in the Sisterhood 2 movie) if what she has with Owen goes bust..hey,a girl should always have options..ahaha.I kid!!

So people,do watch Grey's season 6--cos' it's awesome!!

AAR (All American Rejects)

AAR came and rock Malaysia again last Saturday night and I was there along my 4 other friends(Izza, her sis Izrin,Ella & Acad),right after Readings@SEKSAN. We came just in time when the 1st opening act, Disagree was about to play.Pop Shuvit,One Buck Short(Mookie was in the hospital though),Liyana Fizi,Sam Bunkface and the dude from Gerhana Ska Cinta performed. Some lame dance comp thingy that the dj’s of Fly Fm did on stage.

Managed to push ourselves through the crowd, thanks to El’s wisdom..lols.Waited AAR to come on stage for about 50 minutes.Got into a tiff with some stupid first time concert goers..Word of advice, lame people who are afraid of getting packed like sardines, sweaty, pushed around and etc, don’t go to concert! They left even before AAR came on stage..losers!Oh,smoking during a concert is SO not cool. It’s hard enough for us to breath due to lack of space+BO=lack of oxygen.

Tyson with his native American head gear & glittery arms came on stage and they rocked the house. He is just as energetic and fun and campy and awesome!!!It was worth the wait.I love love his performance.Met a lot of cool guys during the concert. Some very cute ones, like the Thai dude with the big hair that obstructed Izza’s view—lolss, the cute brother who hold his lil’ sis on his shoulder(wonder how the lil girl who looked 7 or 8 years old, managed to get in?) or the bunch of guys when we were behind us who shouted in a exaggerated gedik way--‘We love you tyson’..hahaha and they memorized all the lyrics yo!When the concert was about to end,we suddenly got thrown with glitter coming out of nowhere..bahaha.

After the concert ended, because we were way in front,on the way out,saw a lot of familiar faces. The people from Readings were there too, said hye, took some pics.Met some of my seniors & colleagues as well. All the pics are in Ella’s camera thus I don’t have it with me.

Perdana Discourse Series

This was my 2nd time going to the discourse series. My first one was about 3 years ago and I remembered the topic was about education and Tun Dr.M had a lot more to talk about it since his well verse in that topic. This time around we could sense that the topic was not really his cup of tea.

The topic this time around was The Role of Women and Youth in National Development. The panel of speakers was Dina Zaman, Tengku Zafirul and others that I can’t remember because the brochure & bag that I got is in the trunk of my car..am too lazy to take it out..ahaha.
Izza went too although initially,it was for PART 8 students who took Professional Development but because there were many empty seats available,it was opened to others as well at the last minute. So it was fun sharing the experience with Izza again because the first time that I went there was with her too.Want to blog more about it but this post is becoming too long.
Pisau Cukur*Hey,Mak is here!!woohooo.Miss her lots!!

I watched the much anticipated movie by Bernard Chauly a few days ago and it was light, funny and made me want to go on a cruise.I’ll give the movie 3 out of 5.:)..Maya Karin has a such a fit body & I wish I could be that diligent in working out--she has muscles man!

I thought that Faqir played by Shahredza Minhat is very very cute.I saw him in Impian and Mak(Farhana) said that he worked at Bank Negara cause she saw him & she has even served him rice before(long story..)..

Realization

The last day of my finals made me realize that..Hey,this your LAST finals EVER!After spending almost 5 years in UiTM—1 year for Pre-Degree TESL & 4 years of B.Ed TESL--,I’ve to say that it felt like a dream .It felt like only a while ago that I experience MMS,went for the Pre-TESL interview and many many great and not so great things happened in these past 4 years & ½...So many memories was posted on this blog and most of it is tuck safely in my memory.

I only have to do my practicum left, and that scares me for a number of reasons that only my close friends knows why..huhuhu.This hols won’t be much of a holiday cos’ will be busy with Willow, helping my mum run errands and drive her here and there, & I’m hoping that my dad will allow me to go camping with some friends too. Believe it or not,I actually love it because I have an excuse not to bathe during camping(the last time I went,I didn’t bathe for 2 days..hahaha) and not have to primp or wear makeup because I primp myself everyday..gahahaha.

Will be abandoning this blog for a couple of days,1 week tops, because there’s so much to be done, things to do,buy, fitness(lolsss),and lots of sleeping.:)Byeee!!

Catching up with the girls + Readings@Seksan

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

The past weekend starting from Friday night was spent by me with friends whom I’m sorry to say, I haven’t done so in almost a month or so on the account that all of us are busy as hell .It was good to catch up on things, sleep over, pillow talk(muahaha) and actually managed to go out with the girls to watch a movie(woaah the last movie that I watched at the cinema was The Ugly Truth—been that long!) after I have been busy with assignments, getting sick and many other things.

Sadly we missed a few of the girls..Hani & Yaya is super busy with the crazy/near dying point that is Part 6 while Mak is in Keramat—sorry Mak(time aku takde kat Shah Alam, dia ajak kuar tapi xdpt..bile aku kat Shah Alam, die dah kat Keramat)!!!!I miss you so much & your crazy antics & your jokes...sob sob sob sob.

Watched The Time Travelers Wife and it moved me although not to tears though.I thought that the idea of the ability to travel through time is cool although the naked part so isn’t and funnily the moral that I got from the movie is that,One should not choose hunting as a hobby..lols.Watch the movie or read the book to understand that.

On Saturday went to Readings at SEKSAN in Bangsar because Moja and Izza are doing a reading to promote Whoa Willow!. Had a hard time finding the place with the boys and they made me become a KL driver because I kept making turns at places that I’m not supposed to do so or cutting others abruptly and basically I drove like a drunk man or like Acad’s word..’Sangat jantan’.lolsss

I am actually amazed when I was at Readings at the authors who are able to pen their thoughts into books and published them. Katz Tales by Ellen Whyte was so funny.Amir Muhammad was there but I was too shy to ask to take a pic with him or any people there for that matter because I felt so small. The authors there are people whom I wish I could become and although my parents, friends and some lecturers have encouraged me to pen a book,I have yet to be able to do so.

I am even more impressed with people who are able to write poetry because I am not able to do so.I can write pages on a topic that I believe in or create a piece of fiction but poetry is something that I can’t do,be it in the Malaysian language or the English language.

To me poem is about putting your emotions and thoughts into very few words and I find it hard to do so. Thus, I am always in awe over poets. I am not great poets like my friends ,Izza and Moja. BTW, both of you guys should compile your respective poems. Moja pens great sajak(Malay poems) and have helped me with 2 sajak that I had to do for my koko(muehehe), while Izza always managed to write poems that are thought provoking and out of my level of comprehensibility .lolss

Oh,the place that Readings was held was so beautiful...The house(SEKSAN) was amazing and looks like a great place for a retreat or an awesome PARTY PAD!woohoo...Sooo need to find out how much does it cost to rent the place for a day or one night because YOU CAN!!The organizer,Sharon said that the place can be rent for events. There’s a beautiful long green pool in the middle of the house, lots of woods mixed with concrete, old Malay kampong house doors, lush greenery, lots and lots of beds around.

Ciao..!!I am going to Tun Dr.Mahathir’s Perdana Discourse tomorrow & it is my second time!!I have one more assignment to go & 1 more final paper to study for...huhuh.

Next post,AAR live in Bukit Jalil!

Rachel Zoe has vertigo, Instyle nov & gg!

Thursday, October 29, 2009 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

Hello peeps! What have I been to? Aside from completing my last 3 assignments and sort of studying for my 2 final papers which BOTH will be next week, I have insert some family time and some downtime too...

Ooh,as usual I went cuckoo over the recent issue of Instyle(November issue) which had Reese Witherspoon on the front cover.I love the fact that they had an interview with Posh!oooh..But I was disappointed because she said a fashion trend that she doesn’t care for is ballet flats!Yeah, she walks in like 5-inch YSL heels all the time and she said that she finds ballet flats unattractive and unflattering.

Although I love Posh/Victoria Beckham,I have to disagree.I do have a collection of 4-inch heels that I wear for special occasions but I certainly don’t wear them everyday because walking for miles in flats are far more comfortable!hehe. But I love the fact that her favourite tv show is the Gossip Girl!!Heard rumors that she’ll be guest starring in it!woohooo.BTW,TAYLOR LAUTNER(I'm glad that he's with Taylor Swift cos' she's super sweet & talented!) will be featured in the Man of Style section in the December issue of Instyle!!woohoo!!GO AND BUY IT!!I know I will!!;)

Btw,the recent episode of GG was sort of bittersweet because Blair & Chuck are back on track BUT Serena & Blair are enemies..AGAIN!God!And,judging from the promo clips for the next episode,it looks like Serena throw Blair face down on a cake!!OMG!!Got to watch that!

Lately I have been hooked on watching and downloading the second season of The Rachel Zoe Project.I love all the beautiful clothes..:)...As I was watching all the episodes from the second season,in episode 6,Rachel Zoe had vertigo for the first time. And what she went through was EXACTLY like what I did so I was like, yeay, something that I can totally relate and actually post the video here of her being diagnosed and what the doc said because it’s so true.

This is also because when I got diagnosed with vertigo,my friends were like..what?And some people thought I had migraine while some people heard it was Virgo,as in a disease that’s the same name with the zodiac..wtf?So watch the vid below if you don’t understand what a person that has vertigo has to go through.

And when Rachel said that she feels like dying,I laughed out loud because I said those exact words to my cousin who lives with me when I had vertigo and I was like.. “I think I’m dying ” to which she replied..”Jangan merepek”..hahaha.But when you have vertigo and experience it for days,it sure does feel like you’re going to die.

Got to get back to my assignments( 1 down & 3 to go!) & final exams preparation(2 paper!)!Bummer!

Things to ponder

Saturday, October 24, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

The more you learn, the more you realize that there is a lot about this world that you do not know about.

The older I get,the lazier I become to socialize with others.I am pretty much a hermit who actually likes to stay at home instead of going out.Yes,weird.But I do go out once in awhile and let my hair down.It is just that this semester has been really important to me.My close friends knows why.:)

I do not know why,but I find it hard to let go of certain things that I should let go off.I wonder how people can divide their respective hearts and fill the spaces or replace it with various significant others.I wish I could do the same.It would be awesome..Maybe?Who knows.

I can sort of see now the direction that I want to take once I graduate. It's a very tall mountain to climb but I know I can do it little by little.I just cannot wait to be able to do so.

A quote that I read in a book recently that made me laugh because it is quite true.Though most guys that I have dated are nice guys,so it's not about them.:

"The ones that are good for us we find dull and boring, like Micheal, for instance, and then we pick assholes, like Russell, the ones who won't cooperate, the ones who offer us the most challenge and get our blood flowing and shit. Those are the motherfuckers we fall in love with." :)

Tired & Recent News

Thursday, October 22, 2009 Liyana Hanim 3 Comments

Have you read the recent news or watched the news??A 3 year old died because she was sodomized & raped &beaten up by the boyfriend of her mother,a Somalian, who lives with her.The mother is Muslim.hurmph..The picture of the little girl was gruesome..A mother is suppose to protect and nurture her offspring..sigh.

The whole Pornthip's investigating Teoh's death intrigues me very much because not many people know this, but back when I was 17 years old, back when I was in the science stream,I wanted to go to Matriculation after SPM & then pursue Forensic Science. But that went bust when my Physics SPM results was tragic..Funnily,I didn't fail my Chemistry test.I was good in Biology because it was one of my favorite subject! The point is, Pornthip being here is like an Asian version of a the real-deal CSI..:P

This week was tiring what with 3 quizzes & today was the last class & last presentation.Only 4 assignments left to submit..I'm at home(parents house) & can't wait to snuggle up in my comfy bed and get much needed sleep..after I watch Life in the fab lane,of course!haha.Sadly, while I'm here,Napisah & Mak is in Shah Alam. They got here today..Miss u guys!!:(..Hopefully they'll still be there on Monday!!Wonder when Hanna will be here..Ckp soon2,xmuncul2 pon!hahaha.Okay, relaxation & hibernation time starts in a few hours..:)))))HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Queen Bee...*spoiler for GG 306 & 307

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

This post will be short too since I have to study for another quiz tomorrow & a presentation early in the morning..Man I can't wait for Friday!

The title of this post of course refers to Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl.To the avid gossip girl fans out there, have you guys watched episode 306:All About Eve???You should watch it but for CHAIR(Chuck + Blair) fans, you will be very dissapointed...Like me!sigh...WHY???

I know, nothing is perfect in this world, not ME,not YOU,not THEM.BUT,sometimes watching a couple that is perfect is like an escapism...thus,when Blair was stooopid enough to do what she did to Chuck which really angered me because really, her whole I want to take over NYU stint is reallly getting on my nerves!!!

Why can't you just be happy with the ever accomodating Chuck Bass???WHY ROCK THE BOAT????arggghhh...Now in 307:How to succeed in Bassness,Chuck is all Blair is soo not invited to the opening night of my hot new club...This is depressing me!!

Some things can happen at the worse time possible.2 days before the seminar that my classmates and I,U8C,have been planning for more than 3 months,I got sick.On Wednesday, after watching Monalisa Smile at the fac for my Women Lit class,I went back home and while I was getting in the car,I suddenly felt my head rotating to my left, like I was about to pass out from lack of sleep. So I thought it was nothing, ate a sweet and drove home.At night,I felt really horrible. Whenever I turn my head to the right,it rotates full circle, like the feeling when you’re seasick.

I cannot turn my head to either side and all I could do was stay still and lay down.I asked my cousin why am I feeling this way and she told me maybe because I should sleep. So I slept. And when I woke up in the morning, around 6.30am,it got WORSE.I thought maybe it’s because I haven’t wash my hair, so I shampooed but it was still there. I felt nauseous & vomit the water that I drank. Asked my aunt to bring me to the nearest 24hr clinic and the doctor told me that I have Vertigo, forgot to ask him much & he was very nonchalant & was like, it’ll past in 3 to 4 days..WTF!!I don’t have 3 to 4 days!! I guess because I just felt really nauseous, I just wanted to get out of there & take my meds and go back to bed. The doc gave me an MC and I went home, puking some more when I went back---like I said, it’s like seasick all the time although you’re walking normally.

I can only take the 2 meds that the doc gave, twice in a day.So I slept, hoping against hope that I would recover in time to help my classmates set up for our seminar that night.I had to eat in bed, lying down, using a spoon so that I could take my meds, which required me to eat first.I could not eat sitting down or walked or sit after I ate because that meant I would puke again.blergghh.

Basically all I could do was stay in bed. But still that night,it got worse.I only ate like 1 nasi himpit the WHOLE day from the lontong that my aunt bought.I ate like 2 cornflakes cookies in the evening but ended up puking it again when I went to the bathroom..yes,walking to the loo made me puke too. The next morning,I woke up early in hopes that I would be able to attend the seminar that I helped design the booklet, the montage, and findthe designer for the banner and bunting---but NO.Still could not walk further than the room to the bathroom without having to lay down on the bed to alleviate the nausea.

In the evening,my dad came and my whole family was there too since school was closed. My parents brought me to the family doctor instead because I wanted a second opinion. He explained a lot about my situation.Thank God!Because I was just so confuse over how this could have happened so suddenly, without any warning. He said that now that it has happened---IT WOULD HAPPEN FREQUENTLY.Atleast once in a year.I was like..WHAT??????

He told me that there’s an imbalance happening to my middle ear, which is inside my head, which makes me feel seasick/mabuk + nauseous. All I can do is make sure that I have extra meds with me at all time.Because it could happen anytime.I was like, but all I could do when it happens is to stay in bed.He was like yes,and try to relax. My mum was there beside me & she asked what triggers it to happen, what is something eat I ate and he say no,it just happens.Great.Now I have to live with it!!!!I pray that it won’t happen again during important times because staying in bed while important things are happening or needs to be done is NOT FUN!!!

There, vertigo might seem like a cool word, but it is not cool once it actually happens to you.Not cool at all to feel like everything is spinning at all time and puking even the water that you drink.NOT COOL!!!A senior of mine told me that he has vertigo too & it took him 3 weeks to recover..3 WEEKS!!!I pray it won’t happen during finals!*gulp*...Thanks so much to Hafriz who helped me by playing the montage that I did for the seminar cos’ I can’t be there & also to all my colleagues of U8C PD class for my absence at a crucial time..sigh.Today is the 4 & ½ day that I’m experiencing vertigo and it’s not as bad during the first 2 days...I soo don’t want to go there again..:(
