Nuffnang Premiere screening of Mr Peabody and Sherman

Saturday, March 22, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I saw the trailer of Mr Peabody and Sherman a few weeks back.It was so cuteeee! And I wanted to watch it.Thankfully I got the premiere tickets from Nuffnang!I of course brought my numero uno,Razin,to come with me.How was the movie? It was adorable!

I love it!Of course I can't help but picturing Ty Burrell's(from Modern Family) face whenever Mr Peabody speaks.hahaha Sherman is so cuteee!I hate Penny. What a bully!

I think some of you would remember the cartoon ages ago when it was shown on television.Basically Mr Peabody is not just any dog. He's a genius who has done and create so many things--twerking??hahaha

Mr Peabody created this machine called the WABAC.The WABAC enables you to travel through time..and Mr Peabody brings Sherman back to witness historical events so that he can learn better through it.This makes Sherman's knowledge way advance than his peers--hence being bullied by Penny.

Sherman is adopted by Mr Peabody(of course since he's a dog!) and because of Sherman's incident at school with Penny,he might be taken away from Mr Peabody! This is when the movie starts to get a little exciting and hilarious.

The movie was really cute and enjoyable but the only thing that my boyfriend had a problem with was that there was too many puns..courtesy of Mr Peabody.haha The best thing about the movie is of course the father and son relationship between Mr Peabody and Sherman. And also the love/hate relationship between Sherman and Penny.:)

For a light watch,I would recommend this!

The movie I've been waiting for...VERONICA MARS!!!

Saturday, March 15, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I'm a hugeeeee fan of Veronica Mars.Back when it was aired in the States,I was in my final year of highschool (I'm 27 now!) and back then downloading it would have been difficult because torrent wasn't as good as it is now.And also, buying the series would have been hard because the dvd's weren't sold here.

So I only got to watch the series last year because I suddenly remembered about it.That took a long time! But I watched 3 seasons back to back and I was hook! You'd remember my blogpost HERE about the series.
Available for purchase on iTunes US account(not Malaysia!)
How was the movie??I LOVE IT!If you're a fan of Veronica Mars series you'd love it.100%..okay maybe 90%?haha There was one flaw that I'd like to point out..how come it took Piz 9 years into their relationship to bring his parents to see Veronica??That's just weird! My boyfriend brought me to see his parents on our...third date?haha. But I guess that plot just had to happen because it lead to....hahaha Won't spoil it for you!

If you haven't watched Veronica Mars before, you'd love it too!Almost all the regular cast was in it except for Duncan Kane character and also Carrie Bishop(Bonnie) who was supposed to be played by Leighton Meester(yup she was in the series yearsss ago!) but replaced by another actress.Like..how did she end up with Logan??ewww :P

I love that Max Greenfield(New Girl) is in it as well and how he's so different looking than he was in Veronica Mars years ago!haha He's definitely much more buff now.Also...ahhhh Logan Echolls(played by Jason Dohrig)..I love his character in Veronica Mars and always thought that they belong together now matter how messed up his life was(not him but his parents etc).So..did they end up together in this movie???Maybeeeee??hahaha He's just so swoon worthy..he should be in more movies!

There was a lot of cameos in the movie. There was Justin Long,Dax Shepard(Kirsten Bell's husband!)--her look of puking when he dance towards her was awesomeeee hahah ,James Franco(which was hilarious!!) and many more.

I just truly love this movie and the entire cast. It's a solid cast and what could have been a really great tv series if it wasn't cancelled after 3 seasons(reasons being was when UPN channel became CW and then..you get the drift!).I guess because there wasn't girls in scantily clad clothing or lotsa sex in it..the ratings weren't so good towards the end?

But Veronica Mars have a strong fan base. That was how they managed to do this movie by going on Kickstarter and raising 5.6 million to film it!

I would give this movie 5/5..I might be biased though because I'm such a fan!:P

Yay ,Sammich! for Razin's birthday lunch

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 Liyana Hanim 2 Comments

I managed to contact Bassira from Yay Sammich!,2 weeks before his birthday to secure a spot for lunch. She was very nice and it was so easy communicating with her.I've never tasted her food before but I followed her on instagram and I know in my heart that it will taste delicious because the love and dedication that she puts to it(follow Yay Sammich on instagram and you'll know what I meant!).
The menu!

It was so funny because I was searching for Yay Sammich while driving and when we parked in front of Bassira's place,Razin was like..where are we?Because it was inside her house so he was a bit weirded out by it haha.It was awesome! He kept asking where we are going but I would not say anything else other than that we were having lunch in Bangsar :)
Drinks station
When we entered Yay Sammich,we were greeted by Bassira herself. The place was very cosy. There were tables and chairs and a drinks section which had a pretty container of pink lemonade and selection of teas.
The desserts&novelty snacks section
There was also a dessert station but Razin and I didn't take any.He didn't know that I was taking him somewhere for dessert(previous post on Fiq's cheesecake)!Razin was surprised to see Hiro snacks was there because he said he remembered them when he was little.I remembered the Apollo snacks more(which were sold there as well!).
Bassira's cat!
Bassira asked us before we came in if we're okay with cats and we were like..It's not a problem. The cats were so cute!Especially the one above which had a very special name but I can't remember what it was now.But it sounded very Mexican I thing.
His What The Duck sandwich

The food was so good! The boyfriend loves duck and he had the duck sandwich while I ordered their famous brisket sandwich.Razin's sandwich which he gave me to taste was so yummy. The combo of crispy&moist duck with hoisin sauce and fried wantons was soooo good! I definitely want to order that when we come back!
My Tender Me Brisket sandwich
My brisket was so tender and soft and flavorful! There was jalapenos, homemade pickled onions..yummm.

The sandwiches came with a side salad that was lightly dressed in balsamic dressing(I think) and potato crisps that were made by Bassira herself. These sandwiches aren't like your normal sandwiches. They're a full fledged meal! It's definitely worth the money!

Yummy lemonade!
The pink lemonade there was refreshing and there was free refills! We also bought Mary's Little Lamb for Razin's sister Qeema and she loved it.I had a bite at home and it was really good.I'm hoping to go to Yay Sammich once a month to get a duck sandwich.:P

I will definitely come again and try the desserts as well.If you read the latest issue of TimeOut KL,Bassira and her homemade cakes were featured on it!To book a reservation, contact Bassira via her Facebook page :)

#PRAYFORMH370

Taken from the internet
Currently,my beloved country,Malaysia has been hit with such a devastating piece of news..flight MH370 which departed from KLIA at 12.41 am was supposed to arrive in Beijing last Saturday at 6.30 am has been missing until today. No words or news yet of the whereabouts of the flight..but we've been getting help from so many countries for the search and rescue.

Indonesia,Singapore,Vietnam,Philippines,US,China,Australia,Korea,Japan..the support has been so heartwarming..knowing that all of them are working together to help us find the whereabouts of the flight.I hope that we'll hear some good news or any news about them soon. But know that everybody is doing their best for the SAR.Stop pointing fingers as this is a rare occurrence.Out of 3 million flights, there's only 2 fatal accidents so far.

People get into car accidents everyday. So don't go and blame anybody.Flying a plane is totally different than driving a car.Don't blame the pilot, the government or what not.People play the blame game so easily when we don't even know what truly happened. It's better to keep a positive outlook on it and hope for the best as we're getting all the help that we need. It's okay to speculate in your head but don't go about sharing it on the internet.

I was dumbfounded how on Saturday morning,I could see all over the internet from Facebook(on MAS status comments) to tweets on Twitter to Instagram comments we have people saying that the flight has landed safely in Nanning,China..some even use religious words saying that they're glad the flight has arrive and etc which shocked me to the core because this people believe whatever other people are saying without knowing whether it's true or not.

They pass it on from one person to another like it's nothing and said that so and so shared it.This is not a piece of gossip! This is a serious situation..I didn't dare to share anything unless it was from the authorities during the press conference. Why some people have this mentality of wanting to be the first in sharing news puzzles me.It's about people's lives..they've family members who can actually see what you're sharing on the net..please be considerate of other people's feelings.

It made me realize that there's quite a few Malaysians out there who would believe in anything. No wonder they always think that whatever the government is doing is negative..has a double meaning and so forth with their thousands conspiracy theories. It's like..nothing they ever do is right..everything is wrong. It's so sad that some people have that kind of mindset.I always think that everybody makes mistakes.Regardless whether you're from the government or the opposition. But there must be something good in everybody!Nobody is 100% bad.

And what is up with people who keep saying on the net why there's still no news on MH370..why our government haven't found anything yet?Don't they know that the ocean is vast? The world is not as big as just where you live.Finding a flight that has gone missing doesn't take a few hours..sometimes it takes days and weeks.Case in point, what happened to Air France 447..the blackbox was only found 2 years after the incident.Bodies were found 5 days after the flight went missing.

It's scary to think about the outcome of MH370 but let's all keep a positive mind on things. We should come together about this and pray for the best.

Deconstructed cheesecake at Fiq's Gastronomy

Tuesday, March 04, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

After Razin's birthday lunch,I took Razin to our friend's place..Fiq's Gastronomy to have a little bit of dessert.Their new deconstructed cheesecake was delicious! There's a popping sensation to it(if you ate it,you know what I meant!)..haha..Order it and share the dish with someone as Syafiq said it's meant for sharing(it's quite huge). The dish is not like a normal cheesecake..

When you eat a slice of cheesecake, the first, second, third and etc bite will still taste like a cheesecake. Syafiq told us that he created the dish the way it is so that we get a different mouthful in every bite.

The dish is made up of cheesecake, cookie crumble, almond powder, butterscotch foam and strawberry coulis. So you can taste all components together or separately. It's meant to be fun but delicious at the same time!

I've since eaten this dessert..twice.Had it recently when I went there for dinner with the boyfriend and his clients(coincidentally, 4 of my friends .So good! The dish cost rm15 and it's meant for two people to share so it's very worth the money.Do drop by..but be reminded that they're always full on weekend nights so do make a reservation if you're coming with lots of people.:)

Our 3rd anniversary,Valentine's day and his 29th birthday.

Monday, March 03, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

January-February are months filled with lovely occasions! Our anniversary,v'day(which we shouldn't celebrate excessively..just a simple token of appreciation will do) and also his birthday! Thus there was a lot of gifts, food and love involved..awwww haha

Three years anniversary might be nothing to some people but to me it's a big thing..I never thought that I'd find someone that I'd be completely in love with and I still love him so much every single day. He's been an amazing addition to my life..and like he said...I'm the best thing that has happened to him :) The anniversary fell on the 27th of January..it was the day that he told me he loved me and asked me to be his girlfriend..the old fashioned way which is rare in guys nowadays.

So pretty!!My fave handbag/purse ever in my fave colors.

In my previous post I mentioned that I treated him to a spa treatment in Bali for our 3rd anniversary. He bought me a handbag and purse once we came back to Malaysia.Because he said there was nothing worth buying for me in Bali...hahah Men!Don't they know that women can shop anywhere?
Chocolates!
Anyway,he also got us Royce chocolates and it was super yumm!Who knew potato chips and chocolate would go together? But then again Mc Donald's hot french fries with their chocolate sundae goes so well together!

V'day desserts
On Valentine's day I surprised him with a gift(not in picture) and some homemade desserts after work.He in turn booked us a table at Rakuzen for dinner. He said he had to call every Rakuzen in Malaysia(all were fully booked) until he got a table at Plaza Damas.

:)
BUT when we arrived there, they made a mistake on our reservation..(they couldn't find it) others as well that quite a few couples had to wait for a table(we waited for 20 mins) although everyone told them they've made a reservation.
Yummy!!

Amaze by what he ordered haha
I still wonder who's the bugger who took down the reservation for us and the other 3-4 couples.I was a bit pissed because it was 9pm and I was hungry..but all is well when we got our delicious food.

Chubsters hahaha

Also the staff was so kind to go from table to table to take pictures of couples using their polaroid camera and giving it to each of us.It was a beautiful memory :)

I've been to Rakuzen before but Razin and I would always order the strawberry ice for dessert. That night we ordered the vanilla ice cream wafer and it was so good!So the next day,Razin brought me to Shojikiya and bought all the vanilla ice cream wafer there.hehe.Well,there was only 4 left when we came:(

Ice cream!
For his 29th birthday (which fell on 23rd of February)I've been preparing for it weeks before!I bought the gifts, designed the cards and also had a note with each presents..I bought him..5 different presents(not pictured..:P).booked a super hush hush birthday lunch and also planned a birthday dinner with his family. The pressure was on because my boyfriend is so good at surprising me for my birthday year after year(4 birthdays in total now).I wanted to live up to what he did for my birthday last year..haha
Opening 2 of my presents after the dinner :)

So I gave him the 5 presents in spurts during the whole day.One gift before he got ready for our lunch date. One gift when he entered my car(I became the driver the whole day..haha He drives all the time whenever we go out).Another after our lunch. And the two others was during his birthday dinner :) Being so busy bringing him to places and planning the whole thing that I forgot to take a picture of the gifts all wrapped up nicely.
Sneak peek of Yay Sammich
We went to Yay Sammich(will blog about this soon) for lunch--which was so delicious and then Fiq's Gastronomy for dessert.Had the new deconstructed cheesecake there(will upload my blogpost about it tomorrow) and also coffee and the pb&snickers milkshake(so gooood!)
Pb&snickers milkshake
After that we went home and Razin rested for awhile and took a nap(he got migraine the night before and couldn't sleep well..poor baby) while I prepared for his birthday dinner with his mum and sister.
Huge prawns!

His mum bought a lot of this super huge prawn which is called udang galah here(I've no idea what is the name in English and I even googled it just now). One prawn was the size of both of my palms put together!

The birthday boy waiting for his feast!
I made potato gratin with a block of mozzarella and cream in it,honey mustard sauce(his fave! And it was the first time I tried the recipe and it works..even his dad loves the sauce :P),basil and lemon cream sauce(made by his sister qeema)we had caesar salad, aglio olio pasta(made by me),smoked duck(I bought from Homst) and cheesy garlic bread(using this recipe from Smitten Kitchen).I also bought a huge bottle of sparkling white grape drink from Jaya Grocer. The bottle was beautiful!

Birthday cake time!
I baked his birthday cake..of course!I've only bought his birthday cake once..it was an ice cream cake form Haagen Dazs because he wanted ice cream cake that one time and I didn't want to make it on my own and then having it melted while I drive with it.

My creation!
Last year I made a tiramisu for his birthday..it was my first attempt and it was a success. This year I decided to bake a snickers cheesecake.Snickers is one of his favorite candy bar.It was my first time trying out the recipe and I was glad that it turned out great!

He got a lot of cool gifts..aside from mine of course haha His eldest sister gave him an engraved pen and his parents gave him the pc monitor that he had always wanted..it's super cool!Because it can be adjusted to go up and down  and it can also be flipped vertically! Now he have two monitors that can be used for his work and easier for him to do a lot of designing.
His cool pc monitor!

I'm glad that Razin had a really great celebration. There's nothing more that I want than for him to feel all loved and happy on his birthday.:) To more and more birthdays together!! I wonder what I should do for next year?haha

Taman Air Spa,Bali.

Saturday, March 01, 2014 Liyana Hanim 0 Comments

I've been slacking in blogging but trust me I have very good reasons for it.Life just get the hold of you.haha Recently I was busy preparing the presents/food/surprise/cake for the boyfriend's 29th birthday.I'll blog about that soon!I leave you with my spa experience at Taman Air Spa.:)

Taken from their website

Taken from their website
While we were in Bali with his sister and her family,we actually celebrated our three years anniversary. What??It's been three years?Time flies so fast!We didn't have a fancy dinner or anything to celebrate while we were there but I did book a spa treatment for us at Taman Air Spa--5 star spa in terms of facilities and treatments. It was so beautiful.

I booked our treatments via email 2 months before we went to Bali.I managed to also book a spa treatment for Nana(Razin's sister) and her husband.I leave you with pictures of the spa first.
The waiting area
Beautiful pond
Taken from their website--exact pic of our room
The huge jacuzzi
Juice and sandwiches
Basically the treatment that we had was called the Refreshing Beginning package which consisted of a 1 hour Balinese massage and 30 minutes spice herbal scrub for IDR 234.000 per person(which is only rm66!!).I added a 30 minutes flower bath to it for IDR 75.000(rm21 or so).So total for both of us for a 2 hour treatment there which included sandwiches and watermelon juice and also shuttle back to our villa was only....IDR 616.000 = RM 175 or so.It was cheap!

Added the fact that the place was so beautiful and felt like a true spa experience. Our massage room had it's own huge jacuzzi.I slept the whole time during the massage as it was relaxing.Jacuzzi under the stars(they had a skylight) was amazing as well.

They've change their prices for 2014 packages though. But because I made the reservation in 2013,they charge me and Nana the prices that we agreed on before which was nice of them.I would definitely go there again whenever I go back to Bali.

Also, our treatment ended right at 11pm(the spa closing hour) and their driver send us back to our villa..but before that the boyfriend was hungry and wanted McDonalds. So the driver kindly waited for us to buy our supper. He was very friendly and courteous.I would recommend you guys to go to this spa if you're staying nearby while holidaying in Bali.:)
