Holiday 2017: Bali (Club Med)

An oldddd draft post..this was back when I worked at 16TWO (I was there for almost 4 yrs and left shortly after I had Cahaya). I've changed jobs 3 times since then. 😂

Below is my blogpost at the time that I went to Club Med Bali with my colleagues and I haven't been back there since 2017!

In April 2017, my company sent me along with three other colleagues to Club Med Bali for a 4 days holiday.

It was my first time staying at Club Med but third time going to Bali. Club Med was situated in Nusa Dua, where there's a lot of expats and 5-star resorts. It was different than Seminyak/Kuta/Ubud(which I've stayed at before) because it was very quiet and spotless..when our driver wanted to enter Nusa Dua, the guards will stop him and open his van to check if there's any thing that's dangerous. I guess this is a precaution because of the Bali bombing.

I had a great time in Bali as always, but it was pretty scary taking Uber as in Bali, competition is fierce between them and cab drivers, that we have to do it discreetly if we want to take an Uber.

One time, I went to a nearby mall and two different Uber drivers cancelled on me as they didn't dare to pick me up there as there were a number of cab drivers nearby.I had to walk quite far from the mall entrance for the Uber to be able to pick me up without the cab drivers around.

He even showed me pictures of Uber drivers being beat up by cab drivers in Bali and they even ruined a car of his friend. It's crazy!

Ok now back to my experience at Club Med Bali.

I think we were the only 4 Malaysians there. Everybody is an expat.

One of the best thing about Club Med is that everything is inclusive. Meaning, there's free flow of drinks and food! So you can eat or drink anything. They serve 5 meals in a day. Breakfast (buffet), late breakfast (ala carte), lunch (buffet), late lunch (ala carte), dinner (buffet) and supper (ala carte).
Their buffet spread is amazing..one of the best I've had.

Oh, I've been to Bali thrice and I've had food poisoning two times. Once during our honeymoon in Ubud (my husband was fine..it was just me!) and another at Club Med Bali itself. We didn't eat outside at all and all my meals were from Club Med! I guessed it must have been the mocktails that I drank..

Bali water is untreated so always drink bottled water or hot drinks. Luckily, there's a dispensary inside Club Med and I was able to buy my meds there. But it was no fun having food poisoning and my husband wasn't around to comfort me. It was mild food poisoning so I was able to go home feeling okay.

At Club Med, the watersports facilities are free!So I managed to kayak with my colleague Jules..she managed to convince me to go to the middle of the sea..something that I've never done because I can't swim. haha. I saw sea urchins when we were kayaking and I told the instructor who taught the girls how to wind sail..and he said he will get it for me so I can eat it fresh. But alas, when he open one, it was empty!

I think Club Med is perfect for families as they have a lot of activities for kids. We basically just stayed at Club Med but we did venture out for a spa treatment nearby.

And of course, one day was reserved for shopping-- buying souvenirs and also food items ( I love their Carrefour!!).

Hello dusty blog

I haven't been blogging for 6 years! That's just crazy.😱😱😱 I stopped blogging after I was pregnant and then I had Cahaya. Being a wife and a mum, I barely have time for myself as it is.

A lot of things happened to me throughout the past 6 years.
I got pregnant back in late Dec 2017..and I now have an almost 5 years old beautiful girl named Cahaya Luna Rose.

The entry below is a continuation of my draft back in....2019!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Been on maternity leave since September (my company's maternity leave is 90 days--excluding PH&weekends..so yayyy!) and it just flew by.

Funny because I thought that I'd be bored during maternity leave and will use that time to read/watch lotsa tv shows/movies...ahhh how wrong was I! I barely have any time to myself because Cahaya Luna Rose(that's the name of my baby and yes, it's a girl!) is attached to my boobs and can't be left alone (or she'll cry--but she's better now and can play by herself for a little while).

The first month was tough..I definitely cried a few times. The lack of sleep, and how worried I was if my baby was getting enough milk, the body ache etc. But now it's muchhhh better. Like they said, the first 3 months is the hardest as your baby is still a newborn.

My pregnancy journey was actually pretty great. Aside from that one time I got UTI (because you pee a lot during pregnancy and sometimes I'm too busy that I forgot to pee..or delay it haha) and it gave me contractions! And eventhough I'm much bigger now in size compare to like..6 years ago, I didn't get any pregnancy diabetes.

Though a person commented that I will probably get it during the third trimester (cos she's skinny but she got diabetes during pregnancy)..but I didn't. Took the sugar water test thingyy..twice! But both times, my sugar level was fine..though I did ate a lot of desserts during my second-third trimester..haha

Oh, also, at the start of my pregnancy I did lost a bit of weight due to nausea and I just didn't feel like eating at night because of it.

Moving alonggggg..
Beauty-wise, this year I bought a lot of makeup/skincare that I'd love to share but didn't have the time to do so. Maybe I'll do a 2018 list for makeup and skincare/haircare?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The world has changed a lot in the past 6 years. Covid was crazy. I should do a blogpost just about that! I've so many blogposts in draft. So now I thought..why not just published them? One day when Cahaya is older she can read all of this hilarious blogposts of mine.

Also, it's currently Ramadhan so wishing a blessed Ramadhan to all of my fellow Muslims. ❤️

Brunch at The Tokyo Restaurant

When I was invited to review The Tokyo Restaurant, I was excited because they are very famous for their cheesecake.

I've been to ISETAN The Japan Store at LOT 10 with my husband before but we were only at the ground floor. We didn't know that there's a lot of restaurants on the 4th floor, where The Tokyo Restaurant was located at.

Upon arriving at the 4th floor, the place was quite happening. Scattered around the floor was various Japanese/asian fusion restaurants. The deco and ambience of TTR was very chic and elegant.

The original restaurant started in 1998 back in Azabu, Japan (that is why they also own another restaurant on the same floor called Sushi Azabu) and when they opened an outlet here, this year, they edit their menu to suit Malaysian taste.

Their chef is actually Malay and their food is pork-free! They do serve alcohol in the restaurant, hence why there's no halal status. But rest assure that the ingredients they used for the food is halal.

It was cool to see that the cutlery they used was from Japan as well!

The server recommended us to order their mocktails (as both husband & I don't drink). I ordered the Rosemary Lemonade, which came with a generous stalk of rosemary.

Rosemary Lemonade
home infused rosemary syrup, soda, fresh lemon and rosemary.
RM14
My husband ordered their virgin pina colada. I tasted it and it was yummy!
Virgin Pina Colada
coconuts, pineapple and banana syrup, milk, orange juice.
RM16
We started our meal by sharing a plate of their Mentaiko Pasta. I love that they served it with a side of ikan bilis as it added a crunch with each bite. Eventhough the pasta dish was very creamy, it was nice and wasn't too much. You know sometimes when you a creamy pasta dish...it can be a bit too much and makes you jelak(sick of it). But this wasn't the case with this. We broke the egg and mixed the runny yolk with the pasta. It was yummy!

Mentaiko Pasta

RM25
We were then serve the TTR Cobb Salad. It was a very generous in portion and can be eaten between 3-4 people. The dressing was yummy and there was a lot of items in the salad. Fried chicken, shrimp, edamame, avocado and blue cheese. It's really filling! But because we were sharing this dish, we managed to not feel to full. And the price was only RM24--which is much muchhh cheaper & bigger than any salad you can buy from Italiannies or Chillis. I would definitely be ordering this dish again when I come back here.

TTR Cobb Salad
Deep-fried chicken, shrimp, gorgonzola, summer salad with tabasco mayonnaise
RM24
We were served two mains to share between us. The first one was the Tatsuta Age Chicken with Soy Ginger and Tartar Sauce. While the other was Sauteed Salmon with Lemon Soy Sauce. I always thought that tartar sauce was to be eaten with fish & chips..so it was interesting when it was served with fried chicken. It was very yummy and I loved that they served it with grilled veges to give it some freshness. I also loved that they garnish it wish strands of fried chilli which resembles saffron strands..a nice touch!
Tatsuta Age Chicken with Soy Ginger and Tartar Sauce
Deep-fried chicken, zucchini, capsicum, with ginger soy and tartar sauce.
RM29
The salmon dish was light and delicious. Although the papaya salad was slightly bitter. The salmon was perfectly cooked!

Sauteed Salmon with Lemon Soy Sauce
Salmon fillet, romaine lettuce, papaya salad and lemon butter sauce.
RM50
We were also served two side dishes. Umami french fries and edamame. The umami french fries came with a nitsume dip. It was so yummy! The fries was well coated with bonito flakes and mixed salt. The edamame was unique as it was served cold, with ichimi salt.
Edamame

Then came two plates of desserts. Their famous 6th Avenue Cheesecake and also Classic Tiramisu. The cheesecake was the best cheesecake I've ever had. There was two texture in one cake...amazing! The end part was silky smooth while the top part was fluffy + chewy. It was served with a dollop of whipped cream which paired well with the cake. We wiped the plate clean. I would order this again and recommend it to everybody! P/S: They will be selling the cake whole at ISETAN on the Ground floor for the month of December.
6th Avenue Cheesecake
RM18

The tiramisu was so yummy and luckily, they didn't use alcohol in it(as per the original tiramisu does) so us Muslims can enjoy it. It was light and delicious!
Classic Tiramisu
RM18

I also ordered a cup of their hot matcha latte which was one of the best I've had. It wasn't too sweet and just nice.

Hot Matcha Latte
RM13

I would definitely come back to TTR! Great food, great service and ambiance. I recommend you to come here for a special occasion, for tea time, for a weekend lunch...or any occasion for that matter.

Birthday dinner at Nadodi

I'm that person who loves to cook/bake,eat, buy cookbooks, and watch numerous cooking/food related tv shows. One of my favourite show on Netflix is Chef's Table. There's three seasons of the show now on Netflix and each episode is amazing.

In each episode they showcase a chef and his/hers restaurant..how they became what they are today. Most of these restaurants have Michelin stars or are on the list of the best restaurant in the world..or just some random person who makes incredible food (that's the case with episode about a budhhist monk).

For my birthday this year, my husband surprised me by bringing me to dinner at Nadodi. He reserved a table a month and a half before as it's by reservation only. He wanted us to experience what a fine dining meal is. We were served 12 courses and we chose two different menus (they only have two menu) so that we were able to taste all of their dishes.

The meaning of the word Nadodi is a wanderer/nomad, which is why at Nadodi, they serve you a journey through Southern Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. They only opened recently in March and is very new.

I didn't know what to expect at first, but the experience left us in awe and it was mind blowing. I even told Ashkar(their Head of Operation, who was very friendly and accommodating) that I hope Nadodi will get a Michelin star one day. Thailand and Singapore already has it! :P

Pictured below is the two different journey that we chose. Ours was without wine pairing of course.haha My husband's journey is the Nadodi Journey 2.0 (RM 360++)--a new menu from them  while mine was the original Nadodi Journey (RM 430++).

My Nadodi Journey
Husband's Nadodi Journey

From the other reviews of Nadodi that I've seen online, they are constantly changing their menu which makes for an exciting experience!

Pictures from my Nadodi Journey:

The yellow sauce on top is also a favorite of mine. It's lobster truffe sodhi..sooo delicious!

Pictures from my husband's Nadodi Journey 2.0:

One of my dish was called Red Meat. And the meat was lamb(my least favourite protein by the way). I'm not a fan of lamb at all but they changed my mind. It was the softest, melt in your mouth piece of meat that i've ever tasted in my life. My husband also said that the meal at Nadodi definitely will spoil our meal at any other place. haha. They've created a benchmark for all the other fine dining restaurants out there.

Another dish named Red Kari which is made from beets and I was quite scared of it because I've had a bad experience before eating a vegetarian burger made out of beetroot(it tasted horrible!). BUT, surprisingly, I like this dish! It was delicious and refreshing.

I have so many favorites from our meal at Nadodi but I wouldn't want to give much away to the people out there who have yet to go there.

As it was my birthday dinner, they gave us a special plate of dessert which consists of three types of Valhorna chocolate mousse, crushed pistachios, some kind of biscuit and also lavender sugar. It was delicious!
Birthday dessert!

The service was just really good. Each of our dish was presented and explained by a different person from Nadodi..from the chef to the waitress,to Ashkar himself as well. I also love the dish ware that they used for each of our course..some of my favorites, pictured below.

For a special occasion, one must try it once and have a great dining experience at Nadodi.
The price paid is worth every penny! Though I can say that because my husband paid for mine :P

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick reviews : Rose Matter, Gemini, Watermelon Soda, Masochist and Pumpkin Pie.

I love lipsticks. Last count I have about..60? But rest assured, I've given them away to friends and family..nowadays I'm obsessed with liquid lipsticks. I've accumulated a lottt since last year and up till now.

So I thought that I'd do a blogpost about some of my favourites.

The first one that I'll blog about today is the holy grail..the one that everybody raved about and has been said as the BEST liquid lipstick out there. It's none other than, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick!!

Now...,he has a lottt of shades that are a bit out there for me..which is why I didn't purchase it months earlier. Plus, it's very hard to get here as well. So when I saw that my favourite online beauty store Beautybay carried the line a few months back, I knew I had to buy them.

My first purchase was the shade Rose Matter. Btw, Beautybay is one of the authorized resellers for Jeffree Star cosmetics so it's 100% original ( I don't dare to buy from insta sellers etc cos there's lots of fakes out there!)

I know the controversy surrounding Jeffree Star but I don't care because from his Snapchat and his videos, I feel like he's being genuine.

I have to say, that out of all of my liquid lipstick, Jeffree Star has the best formula of them all. It's not drying, when it fades..it fades out and doesn't leave a gaping hole around your lips. It lasts a long time as well. I just really love it.

1.Rose Matter

When I saw this colour, I immediately knew I had to buy it. The liquid lipstick smells exactly like root beer! So unique..usually liquid lipsticks that I buy smells chemically or like a dessert. The shade is very pink on me somehow. haha But I love it! It lasts a longgg time and is not drying.

2.Watermelon Soda (Summer collection 2016)

The Watermelon Soda is from their Summer collection about a while ago. It smells of watermelon!! The colour is beautiful but unfortunately, it was streaky! So I guess the formula does differ depending on the colour. I tried it once and didn't like it. Tried it again and still didn't like it. So I sold it on my Carousell account.

3.Gemini

This was a colour that was soooo hard to get because they sold out so fast. One lucky day I saw the shade finally being sold on Beautybay. I quickly snapped it up! (it's sold out there already)This was the one that I've been wanting for months and when it arrived in the mail I was so happy.

On the website it's described as a terra-cotta warm-toned nude. It's a very dark nude on me and I love it!

4.Masochist

This was one of the brightest colour of liquid lipstick that I own. I love how it brightens up my face when I put it on! I bought it because I saw reviews and how unique the colour was. But I haven't worn this in quite sometime..I stick to Rose Matter or Gemini for everyday. I've since sold it to a colleague of mine.

5.Pumpkin Pie (Winter Collection)

I definitely gravitate toward burnt orange lipsticks and this one is extra special because there's glitter in it. Though it's not super shiny..it's very subtle. I loveee this shade but it's pretty similar to OFRA's Miami Fever by Kathleen Lights which I have as well.

I have to admit that Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick as the best liquid lipsticks out there and worth the price you pay. I feel like if you love liquid lipsticks, you should definitely have one of them in your collection.

I've recently purchased one of his Lip Ammunition Chrome Summer collection. Can't wait for that to arrive soon!

Althea Raya Giveaway Festival!

I don't know about you.. but I love getting pretty packages in the mail. You know, that feeling when you've purchased something online and waiting for it to arrive...and when it does, they package it soooo nicely.

The only website where I purchase my Korean beauty stuffs, Althea Korea, has now done it again! They've come up with beautiful Limited Edition Althea Ramadan Box(pictured above) that you'll get when you make your beauty purchase with them this month.
Free item!!!

They're also having a Raya Giveaway Festival where you'll get one fabulous item of your choice. A beautiful box AND a free item??What are you waiting for?

There's many products choose from..there's no catch. But it's limited to one item per customer when you shop with Althea! You just choose the item that you want and add it to your bag, they will then automatically deduct the price to 0. :)

Nowadays, I'm all about skincare. I thought i'd share some of my favourites from Althea that I feel you should buy and prep your skin for Raya! I've used these items and I love them. :)

I always make sure that I remove my makeup well everyday. I actually have a three step (cleansing water + cleansing cream + facial wash) that I do every night. The first step that I do is to use a cotton pad and saturate it using the SAEM cleansing water (above). Then I'll wipe my face gently. The cleansing water removes my makeup very well..even waterproof mascara!I've almost finish using the entire bottle (which lasts up to..4-5 months)and will definitely repurchase it!

I don't really wear sleeping mask every night because my skin is sensitive and anything too rich will make my skin breakout!eeek. BUT..I've used the Laneige White Plus Renew Capsule Sleeping Pack and it doesn't cause my skin to breakout at all.My skin feels and look much smoother in the morning as well..the fact that it brightens it is a bonus as well.I use this once a week/two weeks.

Because I wear makeup almost everyday, I like to use a face mask once or twice a week to detox it. I loveee Innisfree Jeju Volcanic clay mask..this is a new one from them and it works well to remove the gunk from your face and unclog your pores. Major love!

That's my recommendation for you girls (or guys) out there! I hope that you'll have fun browsing and shopping on Althea. The prices are amazing that I don't think you'd be able to not buy anything there. haha.

iNContro review

Sponsored post

I have a sweet tooth and it's no secret that I love food. I have very little will power when it comes to food. When I was told that there's a safe and healthy way for me to control my cravings for up to six hours and reduce my hunger, I was like..

via GIPHY

Recently I was introduced to Australian-listed Holista CollTech Ltd recently launched iNContro, the world’s most documented and award-winning weight loss supplement from Sweden in Malaysia!

So what is iNContro?

iNContro™, which contains Appethyl®, an all-natural spinach extract, helps to reduce hunger, control cravings up to six hours and enhance satiety. Appethyl® is a patented, clinically-tested and all natural spinach extract rich thylakoids. Thylakoids are found in all plants and are thought to be the single most abundant protein on Earth.

Because iNContro is plant-based, it is safe for us Muslims to consume. It's also all natural, ensuring there's no side effects!

Such proteins are crucial for weight management as its profound effects on appetite control. The thylakoids in iNContro™ temporarily inhibit enzymes which break down fats, which in turn delay fat digestion; thus allowing more fats to travel further down the intestines resulting in efficient release of satiety hormones (CCK and GLP-1).

Release of these hormones induces satiety by suppressing appetite and reducing food intake.
Clinical studies conducted in Sweden have show that Appethyl® reduces hunger up to 25%, reduces cravings up to 95% and slows down the absorption of fats.

How to take it?

Just mix it with water or juice and consume before taking your meal. You can take 1-2 sachet per day.
The taste is like drinking a green juice, which I do once a day as well!

I tried the product for 1 month and I can safely say that there's no side effects. Here's my review of it below:

Pros

1)There's so side effect! That's great to know because there's a lottt of weight control products out there that is not safe to be consumed.

2)It really did reduce my hunger and cravings! I'm not sure up to six hours though...haha But I did find myself not eating as much sweets or snacking after my meal.

Cons

1) Because it's a sachet and you've to mix it with water and juice, and you've to consume it before your meal, it's easy for you to forget to take it. It has happened to me a few times. haha. (I finished consuming all of it and forgot to take a picture of the mixture..but it basically looks like what blended spinach does!)

Now I don't think I lost any weight from reviewing the product, but I do feel better as I became more mindful over what I eat. And because for us Muslims as Ramadhan is upon us, and we're fasting, we tend to go overboard when we break our fast.

We tend to buy a lot of food from bazaar ramadhan and overeat..I really recommend people to consume iNContro before having your iftar as it will pace you and control you from overeating.

iNContro™ is available at major and independent pharmacies around Malaysia. The recommended consumer price is RM56.50 for one week supply (7 sachets) and RM198.00 for four weeks supply (28 sachets).

Riverdale

When I first saw the teaser for Riverdale series months back, I was a bit skeptical. Growing up, our home was filled with many many copies of Archie comic books. My mum collects Archie comic books ever since her high school years and still reads them to this day. My brothers and I love reading them!

So, it was a bit of a shock to the system when I watched the first episode on Netflix and realize how totally different the series was compared to the comic books that I grew up reading. But it was visually beautiful, I love the songs, they have a great cast..and I continued watching until last Friday when the season ended.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Here's my rundown of the entire season.

1) I wonder where is Ms Grundy(or whoever her real name was..I couldn't remember) now. She's 100% different than the one in the comic book for sure.

2) Adding diversity to the series, Weatherbee and Pop Tate is African American while Reggie is Asian American.

3) Chuck is somehow a bad guy..when in the comic he's oh so nice.

4) There's no mention of Midge throughout the season...who's suppose to be with Moose. And Moose is also gay in the series.

5)In the comic, Ethel is suppose to be with Jughead. hahahaha

6)I love loveee that Archie ended up with Veronica. As it should be. *flips hair*

7)I know girls loveee Jughead..a brooding guy with a complicated backstory..who wouldn't right? But I'm team Archie..he's so ripped. hahaha I just wish he's not so pale. :P Did you know that KJ Apa (Archie) is from New Zealand? His accent..phewwww. Hawtttt!Watch the video HERE!
8)Did you guys catch that brief appearance by Hot Dog in the finale? I was like..hey..he's not Jughead's pet!

9)I love that the series didn't keep us waiting and revealed who killed Jason Blossom in this season.

10) The scene where Archie break the ice using his bare hands to save Cheryl while Jughead looks on..likes a chump. I have so much issue with that scene. ahahahah (screenshot from Netflix below)

errr Jughead..help your friend!

The kind of guy who would break his hand to save a friend
11) The Coopers are actually the Blossoms? And Betty has an older brother somewhere out there?More mysteries next season for sure!

12)I wonder who's the actor who will play the character Hiram Lodge?

Here's hoping second season would be even better!
