My eyelash perming experience

A month ago I went for eyelash perming after I read this article on Into The Gloss. My lashes are long but they're straight.I've to rely on my eyelash curler every morning. So when I read about what eyelash perming was..I was excited! But I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on it...so what I did was that I bought a voucher from Groupon to try it out.

I've heard about eyelash extensions before but it sounds icky to me.Hair extensions or eyelash extensions is a no-no for me.I didn't want to put fake lashes on my own eyelashes..thank you very much!Hence why I choose eyelash perming. It's my own eyelashes..but better!

And I've to tell you eyelash perming was worth it!I was amazed with the results and my eyelashes looks so awesome now.How it works is that you'll have to lay in the 'bed' for 1 hour while they put some stuffs on your lashes to perm it.

You will be asked to choose what kind of curl you want.I choose the natural one I think...there's many different level of curl for the eyelashes but I didn't want it to end up looking like I was wearing fake eyelashes!

I had to remind myself to not open my eyes during that 1 hour or it won't work..haha It's a lot harder than it sounds because I would drift asleep and of course when you wake up from a sleep the first thing you do is open your eyes and I had to remind myself to not do so everytime.

My boyfriend was kind enough to accompany me for the procedure and he even managed to snap a pic of me "asleep"(pictured above). After the procedure,I couldn't stop looking at my eyelashes.I was so happy!hahah
My sparse looking lashes..hurmm
Nowadays I never use the eyelash curler anymore.I just wear some mascara and that's it.
No mascara!
I'll definitely continue with eyelash perming after this..though setting the appointment would be difficult since I've to spend quite sometime for it.1 hour is a long time but then again it's worth it!So I would suggest you girls out there who's a girl who loves long curly lashes without looking fake to try eyelash perming.

My advice is to find a reputable beauty parlor that does it..or else it could be dangerous!I went to "I Brow Beauty Saloon" in Kota Damansara and I can vouch that they're legit!Anyway, look at my boyfriend's eyelash below. He has thick and naturally curly eyelashes.Makes me jealous :P
These are my boyfriend's eyelashes..so unfair!haha

Book reviews:The fault in our stars and Veronica Mars:The thousand dollar tan line.

Ever since I left my university days behind and entered the working life,I haven't been able to finish reading a book in a matter of 2-3 days.It would take me months sometimes and at times I even forget to continue reading a book!

It's a horrible habit that I've accustomed to.But sometimes a book just begs for you to finish reading it and you can't help but continue to flip the pages frantically.

This is what happened to me when I read both books below.I love both books and they're vastly different from each other.

One is about a beautiful love story and the other is of course, about my favorite female detective! So let's begin my sumation on both books.

1)The fault in our stars by John Green

This book was written by John Green who's the other half of the brothers who created Vidcon.I was like..that's cool!

The book is about Hazel Grace, who has thyroid cancer that spread to her lungs. This of course made it difficult for her to breathe normally and she has to use an oxygen tank in order to do so.She has to carry it everywhere.

One day she met Augustus Waters during a support group meeting and soon after they fell in love.Augustus is cancer free after he amputated his leg but he still joins the support group because his best friend Isaac has a tumor in one eye and now he has to remove another which of course made him become blind.

I won't reveal much about this book because I really feel that people should really read it.The conversations between Hazel and Augustus are intelligent and beautiful.I love their love as well and I've to admit that I cried while reading this book. It's definitely NOT your typical teenage love story.

I read this book in 2 days which is a record for me since I haven't done so in a long time!A movie version of the movie will come out in June and I'm sure I'll cry my eyes out at the cinema.T_T..You can watch the trailer for it below:

2)Veronica Mars:The Thousand Dollar Tan Line

Being a huge Veronica Mars fan..(if you didn't know already haha),of course I had to get my hands on the book that just came out.The book is a continuation from the movie version of the series. It's something that Rob Thomas did because of the overwhelming support that they got from Kickstarter.

I love the book! There was some adrenaline pumping moments and I love how the case had a little bit of twist to it.I was a bit bummed that there wasn't much Logan and Veronica moments because he is in the navy so they could only communicate via Skype.

The book is basically about girls who went missing during spring break in Neptune.Veronica was hired by the owner of the Neptune Grand hotel because due to the missing girl(which became girls..ooops a little bit of spoiler!),less people are coming to Nepture for spring break.

While I was reading the book,I can actually play out the scenes in my head.I can even hear Kirsten Bell's voice as Veronica.I love the book and it was a fast read.Though Rob Thomas did say that he won't be making a movie version of this book.I wish they'd make Veronica Mars 2 movie.Wishful thinking!

I flipped the pages of this book pretty fast because I was dying to know what's next.Veronica as usual got herself in some very seriously dangerous position!Glad there was her dad and her best friend Wallace to help her out because Logan isn't around.

Marshmallows(what Veronica Mars fans are called) will love this book for sure!

Movie review:American Hustle,12 years a slave,Abduction of Eden and Divergent.

The Golden Globes and the Academy Awards ended a few weeks back .Previously I blogged about Gravity which was nominated for quite a number of awards..So I thought I should continue blogging about the other nominated movies that I've watched.

American Hustle and 12 years a slave has won various awards respectively from Golden Globes,BAFTA's to the recent Academy Awards(Oscar).

I watched both movies weeks before and below are my recaps on them. Also,I watched two other movies that wasn't Oscar worthy but doesn't mean that they weren't enjoyable!

1.American Hustle

I love this movie. When I watched it I was in awe with the transformation of Christian Bale into Irving Rosenfeld. He looks so different and might I add..a little bit gross haha.Jennifer Lawrence is flawless as always.

American Hustle is about con artists Irving and Sydney(played by Amy Adams and she's so sexy in this movie..didn't know she had it in her!haha) who scams people via "loans".One day they were caught by FBI agent Richie (played by Bradley Cooper..who has a ridiculous head of hair..there's a scene of him with tiny curlers in his hair!) and in turn of being release, they've to help him with four arrests.

I felt really sorry for the character Carmine(played by Jeremy Renner) who was in fact a really nice guy/politician.I really like his character and was sad about what had to happen to him.

When you watch the movie..it's like being transported to a different era.Because it was set in the late 1970's and early 1980's.The costumes, the songs, the bad hair(the men,not the women).

It was an enjoyable movie. Also comedian Louis CK is in it!Which was awesome. My favorite scene probably was anything that had Jennifer Lawrence in it..her character was a hot mess in this movie.A bit wacko! It's a must watch movie for sure.

I give this movie..4 out of 5!

2. 12 years a slave

This was the movie that won the biggest award of the night at the Oscars. After watching the movie I get why it deserve Best Picture.

The movie is gripping,it'll make you emotional, there's uncomfortable and brutal scenes as well. It's based on a true story about Solomon Northup(played by Chiwetel Ejiofor),a freeman who was one day captured and kidnapped for slavery.

Some scenes were so painful to watch.I was surprised when Astro First are showing it though I don't know how much of the movie they had to cut.I watched the uncut version and there were a lot of nudity and violence going on.The beating scenes was brutal..especially during a pivotal scene involving Lupita's character--Patsey
Epps,Patsey and Solomon in a pivotal scene

Pastsey didn't have much to say in the movie and yet Lupita Nyongo won Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars.I guess it was because eventhough her scenes was short,it was very powerful and plus,it was her first movie..ever!

I can't imagine what the actual real people back then had to endure. It was just inhumane! We still have slavery going on in the world(read my review on another movie with a similar theme below) and it is heartbreaking.

There is a silver lining in this movie but just as the title suggested..Solomon was a slave for 12 freakin years and was separated from his family.Imagine being his wife and wondering what happened to her husband in 12 years. If you look up about Solomon's life..there's a mystery on how he died(wasn't shown in the movie).I wonder what happened to him.

I give this movie 4 out of 5 as well.

3.Abduction of Eden

I found out about this movie from the internet after I read the article about Chong Kim who was abducted and sold to a human trafficking ring.It is shocking and scary because it happened back in the 90's in good old America.Chong Kim's real story is much more brutal than the movie.I guess they had to filter a lot of things and plus this is an independent movie.

I thought that Jamie Chung was really good in this movie.I don't know which part of the movie is true or not but she was very courageous in the movie.Working up the ladder of the trafficking ring and then taking them down so that she can escape. It is sad to see all those girls being taken away from their families and having to sell their bodies and living in such a sad condition.

What was shocking was that the owner of the drug and human trafficking ring in the movie, was a cop himself! There was some heart pounding moment in the movie when Eden tries to escape. The movie is a great eye opener. The world isn't a safe place!

I give this movie 3 out of 5.

4.Divergent

I really wanted to see this movie because I thought the trailer looked interesting. So how was it?It was okay.Theo James was really hot.haha

I watched the movie with my boyfriend at the cinema and he didn't like it.He thought it felt more into the Twilight category and he preferred The Hunger Games(the second movie, not the first) better. So maybe for the sequel of Divergent(which is Insurgent)will become much better than the first one.

Interesting fact:Lenny Kravitz acted in The Hunger Games while his daughter Zoe Kravitz is in Divergent!

The movie is basically about Chicago in the future and how the people living in it is divided into five factions.Abnegation (selfless), Amity (peaceful), Candor (truthful), Erudite (intelligent) and Dauntless (brave). They are divided based on their personalities.

This is when my boyfriend have a problem with the storyline..a person has so many different personalities and traits. We don't have one single thing the define us.You've to admit that, that part is a little bit hard to take.

Anway,Beatrice Prior(played by Shailene Woodley) is in Abnegation with her parents and older brother Caleb. When they come of age of some sort, the teens have to take an aptitude test to determine which faction they belong to.But eventhough if they a result that said they belong to Abnegation, they can actually choose which faction they want to join..which I was like..mmmkay.

So Beatrice actually have combined attributes of a few faction which meant that she is a Divergent.. but her proctor(played by Maggie Q--yeay an Asian actress!) managed to manipulate the results so that it showed that she's an Abnegation. This is because if you're a Divergent, you'll be killed! But Beatrice ended up choosing Dauntless at the choosing ceremony.

There she met Four(played by Theo James) during their orientation week and an interesting relationship occurs. There was some breathtaking moments in the movie--after the War Games when Beatrice used the flying fox thing.I like the 'face your fears' simulation. That was interesting and scary.I thought that the movie was enjoyable though the concept is a little flawed.

I give this movie 3.5 out of 5.Let's see how Insurgent will play out.

My 2014 beauty favorites..so far!

It is already April!Good things come to those who wait and that is you dear readers.:P This blog has been abandoned for a week or two??I've been busy with my life.I don't have a laptop..only an iPhone and an iPad.I don't like blogging from both devices because there's no "feel" to it.haha.

Anyway..it seems that I haven't blogged about beauty products in a longgg time. But actually I buy new makeup products every month(fine..actually..every week ahahaha). So here it goes...:)

I love watching all those monthly makeup favorites videos on Youtube.I've been meaning to blog about what I love in terms of beauty products for 2013 and also the recent months but it has always been in draft mode..oops.

So I was like..since it's already 2014,let's move on and concentrate on what beauty products I'm loving now instead of retracing what beauty products I loved in 2013 haha.

Hair creambath
A few days after I came back from Bali,I was walking at this mall with my boyfriend and I saw that this haircare shop was having a massive sale.So I bought this huge tub of hair creambath which was used on my head back when we were in Bali.I got this 1 liter tub for a mere rm50.Steal!It makes my hair superrr soft.

Eyeliners galore!
On Women's Day,Sephora Malaysia gave 15% discount on all of their items for Sephora card members on Sephora products only.So I bought a bunch of stuffs but the ones above are my fave.I got their 12 hour wear crayon jumbo eyeliner in 08 gold and also their retractable waterproof eyeliner in 09 glitter black.I lovee the gold one because it's a beautiful shade of gold..better than NYX's jumbo eye pencil.I love the black glitter eyeliner BUT the glitter goes everywhere..*sigh*

I also bought NYX's retractable eyeliner waterproof in 08 silky cashmere.I wanted a nude-ish eyeliner for my waterline and this one is perfect. It blends smoothly and is very subtle.
I'm a big lip product kind of girl..next to eyeliners and mascaras.Recently I have four faves. Two are from Maybelline's lip polish line and the other two are from Revlon's matte balm and lacquer balm.

I love the Lip Polish in Glam 6--a purple berry shade that if you blend well looks like you just ate a juicy berry!Pop 6 is a bright red one but I like to blend it to get a hint of red on my lips.I don't love wearing lip gloss but I made an exception with these ones because it feels like lip balm on my lips. It's not sticky as well but the staying power is quite weak.I don't mind reapplying though!

The Revlon matte balm in Sultry 225 is my faveee! It's a deep pink color and is just beautiful.

I also recently purchase the new Revlon lacquer balm in provocateur 135.It's a bright red with a hint of shimmer. But the staying power as like the lip polish,is pretty weak.So you've to reapply after you finish eating. But I like how the color instantly brighten ups your face and makes you look more 'put together'.
Wearing the lacquer balm

I love Revlon's Photoready 3D mascara and their Lash Potion mascara. But both tubes have finish recently so I got myself a tube of the mascara below and I love it!!
I love that it has fibres and when I put it on,it doesn't weigh down my lashes. It feels like you're not wearing any mascara. It also doesn't make your lashes feels crunchy(like Maybelline's Rocket Volume..which I bought & stop wearing after awhile) and you can remove it easily with warm water.I'm gonna buy 1-2 more of these to stock up before they're out of stock!

Loveee!

Nowadays my skin is becoming better and better so I've stopped wearing any liquid foundation.Everyday I rarely even wear concealer though I've some eyebags to hide haha. But I love this matte face powder. It is so light and isn't cakey at all.I've bought this for 2 months already and i'm almost hitting the pan.

This is rare for me because I rarely finish a compact power.Previously I wore MAC's one and it was great but I hate that it doesn't have a built in mirror and this one has! It's much much cheaper(rm29!) and comes with a sponge too.But I use my Real Technique expert facebrush to apply this everyday.I will definitely repurchase this!

Good smelling things!
I take bathing very seriously.I love to bathe and I love buying bodywash/shower gels that smells good.I got the Original Source bodywash(top pic, middle) when I was in Bali and it smells heavenly..it makes you smell like a Chupa Chups lollipop--the strawberries and cream kind.I wish they're available here though.

On the right is Cottage Le Caramel shower gel with sugar.I saw this one in Bali as well and have never seen it here until recently when Sasa brought in the brand! It smells so good as well.On the far left is the body lotion that I'm using currently. It's very moisturizing and so inexpensive.I've been using St.Ives products since I was a teenager. My mum bought me their facial wash when I was a teen.

I bought this body mist above from Bali as well..haha I haven't seen it being available here.I love the fresh floral scent--it's white hibiscus from the Dewi Sri Spa line from Martha Tilaar.I went crazy at Martha Tilaar in Bali because the price was so damn cheap.I got so many things for only like...rm80?That was insane!I should share a picture of the things that I bought.Maybe soon?:P
